Population Jumps
In H uron County
Huron county’s population
jumped 5.020 in the last ten
years, a preliminary report from
the census indicates. The figures
show 48,761 for 1951 as against
43,742 ten years ago.
Most of the growth belongs to
urban centres. Eight townships
increased while eight others took
a slump.
Helping to make up the in
crease were population boosts in
Hay, Stephen, Tuckersmith,
Stanley, Hullet, Ashfield, Col-
borne and Turnberry.
Usborne was one of the eight
townships in the county to take
a drop. Others were Goderich,
Grey, Howick, MeKillop, Morris,
East and West Wawanosh.
The figures, with 1941 totals
