The figures show 48,761 for 1951 as against 43,742 ten years ago. Most of the growth belongs to urban centres. Eight townships increased while eight others took a slump. Helping to make up the in­ crease were population boosts in Hay, Stephen, Tuckersmith, Stanley, Hullet, Ashfield, Col- borne and Turnberry. Usborne was one of the eight townships in the county to take a drop. Others were Goderich, Grey, Howick, MeKillop, Morris, East and West Wawanosh.
