Renovate Hotel
Lucan kitchens are not the
only things being modernized in
the village. Have you seen the
old Central Hotel? Old-Timers,
could they come back would ne
ver recognise the place. First
disappeared some years ago, the
community pump which provid
ed water for everal near-by
house-holds as well as passers
by and incidentally kept the
veranda and sidewalk perpetu-
1 ally wet.
Recently the large balcony
which ran accross the front of
the building was removed. Many
] a reeve and politician had spok- I en to the people of Lucan from
’its lofty heights and many of
iLueanite, in days gone by, wait-
■ ?d with bated breath as a child’s
head appeared above the railing
j and a childish hand drew from
■ a revolving barrel a lucky ticket. I Now the balcony is gone forever.
The whole front is being mod
ernized with new windows and
doors and siding. Not only the
front of the hotel but also the
interior is being renovated. When
completed one may wonder if
they are stepping into Hotel
London.

OIL QUEEN
Put an end to unnecessary work and waste caused by
old-fashioned or worn-out heating. An old furnace often
is incapable of getting all the heat out of your fuel—re
sulting in less heat, higher fuel bills with more ashes and
work.
Come in today and see our complete line of Anthes-
Imperial home heating equipment. Let us show you how
clean, how easy and how dependable home heating can
really be with the fully automatic Anthes-Imperial Oil
Queen. And remember you can depend on Anthes-Imperial.

Ladies Injured
In Accident
The Lucan Bridge Club which
met in the Anglican Parish Hall
last Tuesday had a sad and tra
gic ending when two of its mem
bers, Mrs. B. Stanley and Miss
Hattie Hodgins were hit by a
car crossing Main St. Both were
badly injured. Mrs. Stanley has
a broken leg, broken wrist and
a broken pelvis, while Miss Hod-
i gins has a badly crushed leg and
; broken ribs. The Haskett Ambu-
i lance took the former to Victor
ia Hospital and the latter to St.
Joseph’s. Just how the accident
I happened no one knows as both
i are most careful crossing the!
' street. The driver’s story sounds
! the most feasible. He claims they
' saw him and stopped when he
<tooted his horn. Then he thinks
■ they must have thought that he
was stopping to let them cross
for they*1 started again to cross
the street and on the wet pave
ment it was imposible for him
to avoid hitting them.
Miss Stanley’s son, Dr, Stan
ley, is with his mother and gives
a good report as to her condi
tion. Miss Hodgins sister says
she is suffering a lot from the
broken ribs and there is some
congestion. Their many Lucan
friends extended their heartfelt
sympathy to both.
Those attending the Deanery
for West Middlesex at Ailsa Craig
from Lucan were, Rev. L. Har
rison, Mrs. E. Scott, Mrs. A. C.
Calder, Mfs. J. Hodgins, Mrs. F.
McLean and Miss Ryland.
