Former Exeter Girls
Enjoy House Party
A week-end house party was
held at the summer cottage of
Miss Stella Southcott at the
Southcott Pines. Grand Bend. It
could be said that it took the
form of an Old Girls reunion.
• Those present were Mrs. (Lillian
Boyle 1 Sweetman and Mrs.
i Irene Rivers » Routledge, of
Toronto; Mrs. (Lulu Martin)
Gillies, of Midland; Mrs. (Anna
Dow) Ellis and Mrs. I Stella Gil
lies) Harvey, of Exeter. The
visitors arrived in Exeter Friday
morning and spent most of the
day renewing old acquaintances
and visiting old familiar scenes.
They were much impressed with
Exeter’s new schools and with
the large number of new homes
that have been erected in recent
years. At the public school they
took pride in signing the guest
book.
At Grand Bend it was a con
tinual round of reminiscences of
the days when they were “sweet
sixteen.” Boys, parties, dances,
showers and weddings were re
lived. At times they were all
talking and laughing at once. At
6:45 Saturday morning one of
the girls made the suggestion
“Let’s get up and talk.” Judg
ing from the fact that one of the
girls had laringitis before re
turning home we surmise that
talk and laugh they did. We
understand that a resolution was
made to make it an annual
event.
At Legislature
Mr. Thos. Pryde, MLA and
Mrs. Pryde are in Toronto where
Mr. Pryde is attending the ses
sion of Legislature.
