J. McAlpine of Lorne- ville, Ont., brought 300 farmers out to help with erection of $20,000 structure. The barn, which replaces one ruined last September, is believed to be one of biggest in the province., with floor measurement of 11<4 feet by 50 feet. While men were working in yard, a few of their wives were busy in the kitchen preparing dinner which consisted of 235 pies, 95 loaves of sandwiches, 70 cakes, 75 gallons of tea and several pails of potato salad. Mr. and Mrs. William Horney spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Horney of Ridgeway and attended the wedding of Dr. Donald and Miss Shirley Disher in Ridgeway Uni­ ted Church. Donald is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Horney formerly of Exeter. Mr. and Manotick, with their and Mrs. William Horney. Miss Jean Taylor left Sunday for Detroit where she will spend a week with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cann and Mrs. Arnold Cann visited the week-end at Niagara and other points east. Mr. C. H. Russell, KC, of askewan, Alberta, visited Mrs. Rose Russell last week. Mrs. R. Creech, Richard and Joan were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Creech. Mrs Gordon Squires, Summer­ side, PEI, is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Moir, of R.R. 3, Exeter. Norma will stay for a month, and then her parents plan on motoring back with her and visiting for a short time. Mr. William Davis, of London, Mrs. William Fulton and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Long and Barbara of Lockwood, New York, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jo­ seph Davis over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. John Earl, .Sea­ forth, were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. James Squi/e. Mr. and Mrs. James Squire have returned home having spent several days at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Laverne Stone, Kirkton, while they and their family were away on vacafion at Oar Lake, Muskoka. Jim Tomlinson fell while play­ ing last Thursday, cutting his head. The injury required six stitches and was looked after by Dr. Milner. Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay of Vancouver, B.C. visited with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Kestle week and called on friends , relatives around the district, and Mrs*. Linsday recently turned from a vacation in Scot­ land where they visited relatives. Mrs. Lindsay is the former Lil­ lian Hodgert of Exeter. Master Jimmy Russell spent last week with his uncle and , aunt, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Beer, at Grand Bend. Mr. visited Mason end. Mr. Oliver Davis of Fort Erie is visiting his mother, Mrs. Sid . Davis. Miss Marilyn Skinner -and Miss Barbara Brintnell spent last week-end in Grand Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Lawson , are having two weeks’ holidays. Mr. and Mrs. William Johns, Mr. and Mrs. William Butler and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Per­ kins spent a few days last week in Manitoulin Island and other northern points. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Prouty, Mr. Roy Corrick and Mrs. T. Collingwood and Russell attend­ ed the Seventh-Day Adventists camp meeting at Oshawa. They also attended the Thomas-Manuel wedding in Toronto. Mrs. Vera Dudley and daugh­ ter, Jean, of Boston, visited with the former’s cousin, Mrs. Valeria Armstrong the later part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Norval Jones and family spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jacobs, of Chatham. Jerry For worthy returned to London Wednesday after visit­ ing for a week with Mr. and Mrs. William Kernick. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Fisher and Wallace visited with Mr. and Mrs. Warwick, of Pt. Huron, over the week-end. Wallace is remaining for a week. Mr. and Mrs. William Quinn, of St. Johns, N.B., have been re­ newing old acquaintances in this community. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Gi’afton, of Toronto, are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. G. Cochrane. Mrs. Ver da Edmunds, of Flint Michigan, is visiting wth father, Mr. E. Rowclffe. AW2 Martha Pederson, Dashwood, was among the women to graduate from first course of the eight-week basic course at Manning Depot, St. John, P.Q. Mr. Edgar Hunkins is ill at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Tuckey. Edgar was visiting with his sister, Mrs. W. J. Westlake, of Wyoming, when he was tak­ en ill and was confined to bed for a couple of weeks before be­ ing brought home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Traquair and daughter, Mi’s. John Christie have returned from Andover, NB, where they attended the wedding of their son, Donald, to Miss Nancy Wright. While in Andover, Mr. and Mrs. Traquair and Mrs. Christie were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leg L. Wright and Dr. and Mrs. M. Macintosh.
