Lucan And District News Defective Wiring Blamed For Fire On Saturday evening one of the neighbours of Mr. William Berryhill heard a crackling noise which at first she thought was Mr. Berryhill burning rubbish. She went to investigate and saw his roof on fire. She warned Mr. Berryhill and sent in the alarm but, before the fire engine ar rived, the neighbours and Mr. Berryhill, with the aid of hose, had the fire under control. Defective wiring was blamed for the fire. The house was well insulated which no doubt saved the building, for the fire had been smoldering for some time as the rafters were ibadly burned.
