The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1951-08-16, Page 7THE T1MES-ADVOCATE, EXETER, ONTARIO, THURSDAY MORNING, AUGUST 16, 1951
An English newspaper tells
the story of a London stock
broker who replied, to induction
orders from the War Office by
reference to the Bible.
“Look up,” he wrote, “St.
Luke 14:12” The verse says, “I
have married a wife and there
fore I can not come.”
However the War Office
not stumped.
The newspaper reports
man got a reply suggesting
he look up St. Luke 7:8
This verse reads “For I
am a man set under authority
having under me soldiers and I
say unto one, go and he goeth,
and to another, come and he
cometh.”
