Exeter Sweeps Centralia Series
With 12-3 Victory Monday

Exetex’ intermediates made a
clean sweep of the Centralia
series with a 12-3 victory at the
airport Monday night.
Interrupted by light showers
and finally playing on a wet
field, both teams played good
ball until the fifth when the
RCAF team fell apart in the
field to give the locals six runs.
The Flyers had another bad
inning in the seventh and Exeter
took, the opportunity to score
five more. f
Bob Russell started on the
mound for Exeter and held the
airmen for two innings, although
one unearned run was scored.
Joe Mitro took over in the third
with two men on bases. The runs
came in but that was the last
the Flyers saw of home plate.

llderton 4-3
The Exeter Greys had a tough
battle to hold llderton nine in
the game played af Arva on
Thursday, and llderton finally
broke loose in the last of the
eight inning with the assistance
of an error by Exeter to break
the tie and score the winning
run. The score was 4-3 for llder
ton.
With 8 hits, 3 runs and 4 errors

the locals scoreless until the
fifth. Three hits and four errors
brought in six . rubs. In the
seventh Farrow and Haugh start
ed the rally off with doubles
and the Centralia boys miscued
four more as the locals ran the
count up to an even dozen.
Lorne Haugh led the winners
at the plate with two fox’ four,
with Farrow’ clouting two for
five. Stefanyson and Moir shared
the foui’ hits for the losers.

Defeat Wingham
Tuesday evening the local ban
tam baseball club travelled to
Wingham for their second league
game and came up with the sec
ond win, 4-2. .
It proved to be a very well
played game with good pitching
and fine fielding 'by 'both clubs.

The Exeter girls with a total
of 23 runs, managed to hold the
Crediton team down to 11..runs
in the game played in Crediton
on Juesday night. Slugger Hod
gins, King and Essery were top
three at bat, King hitting the
first triple of the game.
