Ridgetown won the trophy with 95 out of 125. St. Thomas was in second pTace and Kippen Scrub team captured third place. The latter two teams received cash. Other teams com­ peting were Kippen No. 1 team, Duart, Clinton Air School two teams from Goderich. In the scrub team from Kip­ pen were Bill Cooper, Roy Mc­ Leod, Elmer Passmore, Thames Road; Lloyd Venner, Hensall. Following a delicious supper in the cottage the members enjoyed a recreational period on the grounds under the direction of Mrs. J. F. Blackwell. A vote of thanks was expressed for the af­ fair by J. At the Union cemetery graves of the I.O.O.F. and veterans were decorated. Chaplain Rev. Ferguson was the guest speakeu and Rev. W. J. W. J. Rogers of Hensall per­ formed the ceremony under an arch attractively decorated with pink and white streamers center­ ed with a white bell. Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Earl Watson Kirkton, of the bride. Given in marriage by her father the bride was lovely strapless matching She wore of blue roses, and white lily-of-the-valley, Her bridal boquet was red roses and maiden hair fern. Miss Marie Armstrong of Sea­ forth, bridesmaid, chose foi* her costume a pink nylon dress em­ broidered skirt, fashioned with a nylon yoke, and carried a mix­ ed bouquet of flowers. Broome Seaforth was his ers groomsman. Patsy Schalm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, had his tonsils removed at Clinton Hospital, Monday of this week. Monday evening the installing of the Worshipful Master and in­ vesture of officers of Huron Lodge -A.F. & A.M. 224y took place in the lodge hall. Past mas­ ter Robert Dalrymple of Hensall assisted by a number of Past Masters, was in charge of the installation. Refreshments were served. Mrs. William Consitt spent the week-end with relatives in Seaforth. Mr. and Mrs. William Thom­ son, Man., are guests with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Alexander. Mr. and Mrs. William Thomp­ son, Neelin, Manitoba, are visit­ ing with Mrs. Hannah Workman. I (Shower For I Bessie Stevens j Prior to her marriage Bessie Stevens of Seaforth, whose j wedding to Ronald Keith Broome of Seaforth, was an interesting ‘event of Saturday June 23, was I feted /at many functions held in her honor. The girls of Seaforth gave a shower for her Wednes­ day June 20, at the home of Miss Jaqueline Habkirk and pre­ sented her with two table lamps. Progressive euchre was played and prizes went to Miss Molly Broome, high score: Bert Broome lone hands and Miss Elean nr Shannon, luekv chair prize. A presentation was held at the brides home, Thursday, June 21, when seventy friends and neigh­ bours of Chislehurst gathered to honor the bride of the week. An enjoyable afternoon was spent at which the bride received numer­ ous lovely gifts. . A program was enjoyed con­ sisting of solos by Mrs. W. J. Rogers of Hensall readings by Mona Caldwell and Betty O’Keefe piano solos, Marilyn Eyre; quar­ tette with Mrs. Harold Parker, Mrs. T. Brintnell, Mrs. D. Kins­ man, Mrs. P. Harris. Luncheon was served. This shower was ar­ ranged by Mrs. Glenn Slavin and Mrs. Campbell Eyre. Henry Weiland of Egmondville, 95 years young in October of this year, life long resident of that community does not,believe in letting his years handicap him in performing his duties. This week he was seen standing on a ladder 20 feet high cleaning out an eavestrough on the porch of his home. Mr. Weiland and his {wife celebrated their 61st wed- ping anniversary this year.
