Steiner spent the week-end in Jackson Michigan where they attended the funeral of Dr. E. J. Mac- Lachlan, who was a classmate of Dr. Steiner at the University of Toronto. Elizabeth Ann Stanlake The funeral of the late Miss Elizabeth Ann Stanlake, who died in Clinton Monday, was held Wednesday afternoon from the Hopper-Hockey funeral home conducted by Rev. H. Kendrick. Born in Stephen Township daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel S'tanlake, she was in her 70th year. For the past 16 years she had resided at Clinton. She had been ill only a short time. Surviving is a brother, Silas, of Exeter. The pallbearers were Messrs William, Nelson and Harry Stanlake, Herbert Ford, Hilton Ford and Thos. Jolly. MATINEES .SATURDAY AND HOLIDAYS Q AT 2:30 P.M. He was in his seventy-first year. Surviving besides his wife, the former Jane Ann Scott, are three daughters, Mrs. William Wareing, Mrs. Earl Allen, of Exeter and Mrs. Earl Hamilton, of Ailsa Craig; one son, Robert, at home; six brothers, Thomas, London; Joseph, Zurich; John, Exeter; Job, London; Garnet, Exeter and Gordon, London; and two sisters, Mrs. Nat Cor­ bett, Exeter; and Mrs. William Rawlings, London. Sanders and daughters of Wheatly spent the week-end with their parents. Mrs. Jessie Sanders accompanied them home for a visit. Euchre Club Mr. and Mrs. Ross Skinner were hosts to the Euchre Club which was held on Tuesday evening with eleven tables play­ ing. Winners of prizes were ladies high, Mrs. Delmar Skin­ ner; gents high, Mr. Gordon Penhale and consolation Mr. Donald Parsons. This week the euchre will be held on Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Gil­ bert Johns as hosts. Easter Service The Elimvllle church held their Easter service on Sunday with a good crowd. The pulpit was beautifully -decorated with Easter lillies and African violets. Two lovely anthems were sung by the choir. A membership ser­ vice was held with thirty-two joining the church. The sacra­ ment was held during the ser­ vice. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Penhale attended the funeral of tlie late Mr. Harvey Down, of London, on Tuesday. WINCHELSEA Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bowers and daughter, of Exeter visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Batten. Mr. and Mrs. George Kellett spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Heard, of Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Arm­ strong visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Campbell, of Stephen, Township on Sunday. Mr. Harvey Sparling very gra­ ciously entertained the mother’s of the school children on Tues­ day afternoon last when they were invited to be present for a teaching period. The girls of the senior grades served tea at the close. On Thursday afternoon the pupils of grades four to eight were taken to London to see the religious film "Prince of Peace” at the Patricia theatre. It was very much enjoyed by all. Mrs. Murray Gibson and two daughters spent the week-end with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fletcher and returned home to Bryanston with Mr. Gibson on Sunday. Miss Ethel Kydd and Mr. R. J. Kydd, of London spent the week-end with their parents. Fit. Lt. C. E. Snider, who is a member of the "Thunderbird” Squadron stationed at McChord, Washington, visited with his brother, Larry Snider, and family on Good Friday.
