BY JOYCE HAUGH This week has proven ex tremely busy for the School Bas ket Ball teams and Exeter have emerged with their share of vic tories winning 3 while dropping 2 to the opponents. The Junior boys soundly trounced the Mit chell Juniors to the tune of 40-7 on Mitchell’s home floor. In the second game the Junior bowed to a stronger more experienced Mitchell team 30-9. Since this is the first game for a good many of the juniors, they performed well and we are looking for an improvement in the junior girls as they gain more experience. In an exhibition game with Goderich Collegiate the Exeter Seniors boys defeated the Gode rich boys by the overwhelming score of 64 to 22. In the second game the Senior Girls were edged out by the Goderich lassies 22 to 17. Jean Taylor was the star for the Exe ter girls, netting 12 of the teams 17 points. In the other game of the tri ple header the junior boys de feated a strong Goderich team by the close score of 19-16. Friday afternoon the student body were entertained by Gradd 11A at the first assembly held in the new gymtorium. The pro- gram consisted of a piano solo by Pat Hopper, a short skit, dra matized by four of the class with Elaine Beei- as the reader, a piano solo by Nancy Teiman, a short skit by the girls and to close the psogram, “The Upside Down Quartet of 11A” favoured the students with their rendi tion of “The Thing’’. This type of program is not only entertain ing but serves as an opportunity of discovering the hidden talent in many of the forms. Mr. Meek has instituted a rule against gum chewers which is proving beneficial to the Basket Ball teams. Each student caught chewing gum in his mathematics periods is obliged to bring a package of gum to Mr. Meek, who usually turns it over to the school teams. Blustering winds and blocked roads forced the cancelation of all classes on Tuesday, when it was impossible for the bus ser vice To operate.
