The Council of the Township
of Hay met in regular session in,
the Townshij) Hall, Zurich, Ont.,
on Monday, October 3, 1949, at
1:30 p.m.
At this meeting "a delegation
from Exeter representing the
South Huron Hospital 'Project
was present to ask the Council
to appoint a committee to aid in
canvassing the Township of Hay.
The following . motions were
passed:
That the minutes of the Sept.
6 .and 19 meetings he adopted as
read.
That the .following committee
be appointed to act on the South
Huron Hospital project (for the
Township of Hay): H. C. Rivers,
James McAllister, A. J. Kalb-
fleisch, Alex Masse and T. H,
Hoffman.
That all private grader rental
of ten dollars or less be paid in
cash t.o grader operator at time
thS yrork is being done,, and re
ceipt given.
That Carl Haberer be engaged
to make the necesary repairs re
quired on the Schwalm Drain.
That the Collector’s Roll as
prepared by the Clerk be accept
ed and that the Clerk be ap
pointed* to prepare the tax notices
and have them mailed to the re
spective taxpayers, and that he
act as 1949 tax collector. Same
to be confirmed by By-Law.
That the Township of Hay pay
grants to .the following organiza
tions for 19 49 as follows: Zurich
Agricultural Society, $75.00;
Exeter Agricultural Society, $25.-
00; Zurich 'Public Library, $25.-
00; Dashwood Public .Library,
$12,50; South Huron Ploughing
Association, $25,00.
That Joseph Cantin be notified
that the Council of the Township
of Hay will take no action re
garding the disputed ownership
of lots 22, 2 3 and .24 South of
Bissonnette St;, St. Joseph.
That the tender to supply a
new oil stove for the Township
office as received from Rader &
Mittleholtz for $109.50 and al
lowance of $65,00 for present
stoves be accepted.
That Application- be made to
the Department of Highways for
nibial payment of the 19 49 Road
subsidy.
That T. H. Hoffman’s tele

Former Resident Dies
David Neil Bellwood, a former
resident of Exeter, died Friday
last in Stratford, aged seventy-
four years. Born in Rodney he
spent a number of years in Exe
ter being an employee of The
Exeter Times. While here he
was united in marriage with
Mary Maretta Smallacom.be, who
predeceased him by twelve years.
In 1913 the family moved to
Stratford. He is survived by one
son, Waldo E., of Stratford;
three daughters, Mrs. Rosena
Enselmo and Mrs, Albert Scam-
melt, of Stratford/ and Mrs.
Howard Wismer, of Kitchener;
and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth
Lowry, Elora and Mrs. Barbara
