Here are the facts: 1. The allowance for pleasure travel during the current ration period of November 16th, 1948, to November l&h, 1949, is $150 U.S. per person ($100 in the case of children under 11 years old). 2. A Form H permit, obtain­ able at any bank, is re­ quired. to take out of Can­ ada, amounts exceeding $10 U.S. or $2S U.S. and Cana­ dian funds. 3. Special allowances are granted for strictly busi­ ness travel where your ap­ plication is certified by your employer. 4. Applications for larger amounts of U.S, funds for travel for health or educa­ tional purposes may be made on special forms ob­ tainable at your bank. St. United .Church, Exeter, conduct­ ed anniversary services in the Hensall United Church on Sun­ day in th© absence of Rev. Workman, of Seaforth, .who was unable to be present ’owing to illness. At the morning service the choir sang an anthem en­ titled "Come Ye Blessed”. The choir was assisted by the Rennie Male Quartette, comprising ;M r. Sam Rennie, Mr. Milne Rennie, Mr. Willis and Mr. Scott. At the evening service the choir .sang the popular anthem "Hark! Hax-k!’ >My Soul”. Mrs. Russell Broderick and Miss Florence Welsh’ were soloists. .The Rennie Male Quartette comprising Mr. Dalton Reid, Mr. Mllne\Rennie, Mr. Willis and Mr. Scott con­ tributed two numbers, with Mrs. Milne Reanie accompanying. Surviving are two brothers, Oliver, of London, .and George, Bagot, Manitoba.* Fune­ ral service will be in the Bon- thron funeral home, Wednesday, Burial in Hensall Union Ceme­tery. Pride-Elect Honoured / A yery pleasant evening was spent on Tuesday at .the home of Mr. and Mrs. A, D, McEwen, in honour of their only daughter, Donna, bride-elect, with about fifty friends and neighbors at­ tending. Hensall Institute Holds Picnic ”Z TlxeMovely rural home of Mrs. W, Dinnin, near Brucefield, pro­ vided the” setting fox* the annual 'Picnic of the Hensall Institute on Wednesday afternoon July 8. A bounteous picnic suppex’ was en­ joyed by the encouraging crowd of members and children, after which an entertaining 'period of sports, arranged by Mrs, Chap­ man and Mrs. Norminton, result­ ed as follows: 'Over and under race, Charles Mickle’s . side; throw the broom, Mrs. Kerslake, Mrs. M r s. Beer's Schwalm; Smale. The kiddies participated in a .peanut scramble. Mrs. Beex* .presided ’for a short business session. The Ode was sung. Min­ utes were read. The ever-popular roll call, "Sing, Say or Pay” was ■featured. Gladys Luker, secretary, read "Thank-you” cards fronx Mrs. Sherritt and Mrs. J. McAllister. The $25.00 contribution sent to the Canadian Cancel' Fund was gratefully acknowledged. On half of Mrs. T. Lavender, Secretary thanked the group the $12.00 donation given to the work of the Guides and Brownies. This amount ... _ ~ credited to the Camp Fund. It was decided to 'hold future Institute meetings in the Legion (Rooms. Mrs. Beer asked for hints and ideas in connection with planning the yearly pro­ grams. A meeting of the execut­ ive will be called for later to attend to saitxe. . It was decided to have a lay­ ette shower to aid a needy faux- ily in the district. Donations of clothing for a theree-year-old girl, layette itexxxs, or gifts of money may be left with Gladys Luker within the next xxxonth. M r s. Orr, District Represent­ ative, gave an enlightening resume of the District Annual, held iix Creditoix oix June 3. Many important facts were pre­ sented. Mrs. A. Mousseau very kindly offered her home for the Pot Luck Supper iix September. She will be assisted by Mrs. Beer. It was suggested to have as roll call, a collection of dish cloths, tea towels, soap chips, offered at the Octobex' meeting, the slips to be drawn at the Pot Luck Supper. At this time a collectioxx was taken, this amount to begixx the appeal for the needy .family, Mrs, Beer expressed hearty thanks to** all, whereupon the National Anthem closed the suc­ cessful get-together.
