Mrs, Thomas Harris (By Heasall Correspondent) Mrs. /Thomas Harris,* a well known Hensail resident, passed away in ist. Joseph’s Hospital, London, on Monday, May 23, in her seventy-fourth year. Widow of the late Thomas Harris, the deceased was, the former Mary Jane Squires,' She was born in Kinburn and resided at Chisel­ hurst for twenty-seven years, coming to Hensail four years ago, Surviving is one son Percy of Chiselhurst, two daughters (iPearl) Mrs. Carl Passmore and (Bernice) Mrs. Milton Lavery, Hensail, A son, Cecil, predeceas­ ed hex* several months ago. Mr. Jerald Godbolt underwent an operation in Victoria Hospit­ al, London, on Wednesday. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery. The Centralia Church will hold its anniversary services on Sun­ day May 29 at 19:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker for both services will be Flight Lieutenant Williams of the Air­ port. There will be special music by fyhe choir, under the direction of Mrs. G. F. Penwarden, assist­ ed by a. guest soloist. On Saturday afternoon, June 4, the members of tlie W.M.S. will hold a “Home Baking Sale" ill the Centralia Library at 3 p.m. Ladies of the community are requested to keep this date in mind, W. The scripture lesson was read by Mrs. G. Baynham. A vocal duet was sung by Mrs. J. Essery and Mrs. !.C. McCurdy. After the singing of a hymn the meeting was handed over to the president for business. After several items of business were decided on, the meeting closed with the singing of a hymn and all repeating the Mizpah Bene­ diction. Lunch was served by Mrs. L. Hodgson, Mrs. T. Bayes. Mrs. B. Hicks and Mrs. Elliott. W.M.S. The W.M.S. age, Mrs. W. Bowden and Mrs. Gates took the worship service. Mrs. Bowden opened with scripture verses, followed by silent prayer. The hymn “In Christ there is n© East or West” was sung together. The thirty- first 'Psalm was read responsive­ ly. There was a good chapter of the study book given by Mrs. Gates. She spoke also on the troubles of Germany following war. Mrs. Gates gave a reading, ‘also Mrs. W. Bowden. Luke 10: 30-37 was the scripture lesson read by Agnes Anderson. A sum­ mary of our Losses and Gains was presented in a very interest­ ing manner. Mrs. M. Elliott took charge of the "Do You Know" section of the programme. A short discussion on “What Do You Think” followed. Mrs. Lome Hicks took the business. The re­ port of the Huron Presbyterial meeting was given, Mrs. M. Elliott gave a very encouraging report of the years work. Mrs. George Hicks gave the report of the afternoon session. She gave a very pleasing account of the addresses of the afternoon.
