Mrs. Stapleton’s Grade 1 class
from the Turnberry campus of
Maitland River Elementary School
must have jumped on Google Maps
and tracked down Santa’s house
because there was no hesitation
when they described what they
thought it looked like.
“Santa’s house looks like it is cov-
ered in snow, lots of snow. It’s made
of wood, and there’s always smoke
coming out of it because the elves
are working, but there is a lot of
snow on it.”
Travis B. from Belgrave.
“Santa’s house looks like a small
cottage with a big chimney and lots
of snow on it.”
Austin B. from Belgrave.
“Santa’s house looks like a ginger-
bread house. They use candy canes
for the fence so the dogs and rein-
deer can’t get out, but the reindeer
stay in the house with Mr. and Mrs.
Claus.”
Chloe B. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks like an igloo.
It’s just a really big igloo with a real-
ly big chimney on the top that he can
land his sleigh in.”
Lukas C. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house has stairs going
upstairs to his bedroom where Mrs.
Claus fixes his suit and then there
are stairs that go downstairs to where
the elves work. There is a big
machine that the elves use to make
the toys.”
Keeren J. from Bluevale.
“I think Santa’s house is red and
white and I think it’s a big house
because the elves try and make pres-
ents there. It’s snowy outside, but
there is a little bit of grass for the
reindeer to eat.”
Kyle M. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks Christmasy
because I forget why. They havepresents and elves and reindeer andthey stand on the snow outside.”Desireh M. from Belgrave.“Santa’s house has a candy caneroof and has lots of toys for winterfor kids. The little kids and all thebig kids get to eat the candy caneroof, but not all the way through
because then there would be snow
inside.
Ryan M. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks like a candy
cane. I’ve never seen it before, but it
looks like a candy cane because it
has stripes. Mrs. Claus stays in the
bakery and Santa lives in the bath-
room. That’s just a joke.”
Mikey M. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks like a real
house except they have elves, pres-
ents and a big Christmas tree.”
Kaydence N. from Blyth.
“Santa’s house looks like a man-
sion and a castle with all sorts ofstone walls, but it has a workshop, elves and reindeer.”Logan N. from Wingham.“Santa’s house looks like a bigigloo with elves and reindeer andpenguins and Santa. Mrs. Claus liveswith the penguins because they looklike little butlers to help her.”
Mallory T. from Bluevale.
“Santa’s house kind of looks like a
medium-sized house, but that’s
because he and the elves are small,
so it’s huge for them.”
Hunter W. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks like the
North Pole and he has food and pres-
ents there for everyone in case they
visit.”
Caleb W. from Wingham.
Maddy S., Karlee M., Cody M.,
Carson B. and Aeson B. were
absent when the students were inter-
viewed.

Wired for Christmas
Students in Mrs. Stapleton’s Grade 1 class at Maitland River Elementary School’s Turnberry
campus did their best to try and imagine Santa Claus’ house and tell The Citizen what it looks
like. The group could hardly sit still because of how many ideas they had. (Denny Scott photo)
