The Citizen, 2012-12-20, Page 17THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2012. PAGE 17. North Pole decorating tips with Maitland River
Students in Mrs. Binnoto Peel’s
class at Maitland River Elementary
School – Turnberry Campus have
some great imagination, or some
great travel agents, because each one
had their own idea about what Santa
Claus’ house looks like.
“It’s a house with elves that live on
the roof and the sleigh lands where
there is a little road for it. The elves
are okay with being cold, so they
like sleeping on the roof. There
might be some trees on the road to
help Santa know where he has to
land his sleigh if there’s a lot of
snow.”
Landon B. from outside of
Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks like a big
Santa Claus. The elves live in the
boots and his big, round belly is the
workshop and his sleigh takes off
from his hat.”
Cody D. from Belgrave.
“Santa’s house is red and square
and he shares it with the reindeer and
his sleigh. The elves work and sleep
in a triangle shed and so does Mrs.
Claus because Santa snores.”
Kira E. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks like an icy
house that is made out of ice because
he lives in the North Pole. It’s like an
igloo. The sleigh sits outside and
gets covered in snow and it takes
Santa a whole day to clean it up
since he only uses it at Christmas.
He has a truck for the rest of the
year.”
Taten F. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house is blue because he
works and then he makes presents
out of the factories that have toys
inside them. It’s blue because of the
smoke from the factories.”
Rylee G. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house is probably really,
really big. The elves build the toys
upstairs and Santa works right
beside their room. The reindeer
would stay in his house to keep safe
and warm and I think outside the
paint would be red and green for
Christmas colours. There would be a
special place for the sleigh. That’s
all I know.”
Jack H. from Wingham.
“I think Santa’s house is red with
white on the top. White paint, not
white snow, he has a special roof that
melts snow. The sleigh lands on the
white part because it keeps the snow
off it. The elves live beside the
house and the reindeer stay with the
sleigh. I think it’s really snowy
there.”
Lorynn H. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house has lights on it,
kind of like our Christmas lights.
The reindeer land in their spots in
the middle of the town called the
North Pole. Santa’s house is there
and so is the toy shop.”
Kaitlyn H. from outside of
Bluevale.
“Santa’s house looks like the
North Pole and it has elves working
on the toys in the workshop in the
ball at the top of the pole. The
reindeer stay in the pen and Santa’s
sled stays with them.”
Gregory L. from Blyth.
“Santa’s house looks like a normalhouse and the elves’ house is rightbeside it and kind of attached to it.
The reindeer live beside the elves.
Actually, Santa and the elves live
together, but the elves live with the
reindeer in their stalls.”
Hannah L. from Belgrave.
“Santa’s house has snow on the
top and has a door that’s bigger and
a door that’s smaller. The bigger
door is for Santa since he’s a big guy
and the smaller door is for the elves
and goes to the toy factory. The roof
has an ice shelf on it.”
Matthew M. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house looks like some
snow because it has snow on it and it
has a desk in it and it looks like a
real house and the elves have to
work outside. Santa is at the desk
working and writing and reading
letters and working on his list.
Hailey M. from Westfield.
“I think Santa’s house is a big
house that has snow all over it. It has
lots of chimneys, maybe because of
all the work the elves do and all the
fireplaces Santa has to practise goingdown them. It has a house for thereindeer too.Zander M. from Wingham.
“Santa’s house is one big house
that has a lot of elves in it and
Santa’s desk is where all the letters
are. Elves are all outside working,
Santa is doing his job and all the
elves are doing the letters too. There
are stairs to Santa’s workshop with a
pole so he can slide down to the
workshop quick.”
Tyson M. from Wingham.
“Decorations are up at Santa’s
house and the elves live inside a
small room. They have a Christmas
tree up and they make toys in a
factory.”
Kaitlyn R. from outside of
Wingham.
“When I see Santa’s house, I see
his desk. It’s brownish with a lot of
papers and a lot of the elves work
around the desk. His house is the
same colour, it’s brown, but it has a
lot of snow on it instead of a lot of
papers.”
Hunter W. from Wingham.
Imagining Santa’s pad
Students from Maitland River Elementary School, specifically those in Grade 1 classes like
Mrs. Binotto Peel’s class, shown above, put their thinking hats on to try and imagine what
Santa’s home must look like. The classes told The Citizen their thoughts and the pictures
painted ranged from the unique to the classic. (Denny Scott photo)
