HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2012-12-06, Page 28After months of not receiving a
report from the Fire Department of
North Huron, Central Huron
councillors are fed up and they want
to set a meeting with their
neighbouring fire service.
Councillor Alison Lobb said
council should set a date for a
meeting between the two parties and
simply send the date to North Huron
Council. Councillors agreed and said the date could be set atcouncil’s next quarterly strategic
planning session, which is
scheduled for Monday, Dec. 17 at 5
p.m.
Chief Administrative Officer
Peggy Van Mierlo-West said that
Central Huron had not received a
report from North Huron since the
death of former North Huron Fire
Chief John Black. It wasn’t until
recently, Van Mierlo-West said, that
the acting chief Keith Hodgkinsonwas told about the arrangement tosend regular reports to Central
Huron.
Lobb, however, was concerned
about the delay, citing the down-to-
the-wire measures that needed to be
taken during the last round of
negotiations, saying that she didn’t
want Central Huron Council to have
to go through that again.
The issue will be discussed further
at the Dec. 17 meeting.
