Saturday Knight Fever
Whether he was boogeying down to keep warm or had
caught a fever and the only cure was more boogeying,
David Knight, one of the many Knights who jumped in their
family float for the Brussels Santa Claus Parade on
Saturday, Dec. 1. Despite the threat of rain, the event was
well attended as people lined the streets of Brussels. (Denny

Santa Claus parade ushers in December in Brussels
December has arrived and brought
sweet Santa with it. What a great
way to get the festive month started
with the parade for Santa and the
Mrs. Once again our community did
what they do best, they organized,
they advertised, they participated
and they attended. Each person
knows the role they fit best and thenjust does it. And so the parade was“a good one”. What a fine welcometo the Christmas season. Thank you
for your community interest and the
team work in giving us another great
parade.
Sunday morning was celebration
time at the United Church as Ashton
influenced many people in their
plans for the day. Bethany Kresky
and Cory Quesenberry invited their
friends and family to attend worship
and the baptism of their precious
daughter. In the Advent season, we
were on the Sunday to focus on hope
but Ashton gave peace a run as she
dozed through her big moment. So
the hope of the grandparents and
parents was covered as well as
peace. Welcome Ashton to theUnited Church of Canada. The birds of Tory Hill are stillentertaining. The budgie is still
eating the fine grains from the
feeder, sometimes without her
sparrow friends and still talks as it
flies overhead. One day last week,

At the Branch
By Jo-Ann McDonald
The Brussels Legion Branch held
its executive and general meeting on
Tuesday, Nov. 27. There were seven
Comrades present at the meeting.
The usual business of the meeting
was conducted with very few
committee reports heard. The sports
committee reports that the Blyth
Brussels PeeWee team participated
in the Legion Zone Tournament
held in Lucknow. They won their
first game and lost their second
game and were eliminated from the
tournament. They report having a
good time.
The membership report has just
over 50 per cent of the members
taking advantage of the early-bird
program and paying their dues
before December 1. The first two
early-bird draw winners were Jim
Brown and Sandra Josling and after
the draw on Friday evening, Dave
Hastings was the third winner. The
dues go up $5 as of December 1 and
Comrades are encouraged to drop
by and pay their dues before the end
of the year. The Canteen committee
reports that cost percentage for
drinks are up and our Branch prices
will need to increase. The price
increases will take effect in January.
The bar prices will stay in line with
other Branches in the area. The
