Lightning beat Ice-Cats
The Saugeen Maitland Midget AA
Lightning downed the Brantford Ice-
Cats by a score of 1-0 in regular
season Lower Lakes league action
this past weekend.
The Ice-Cats appeared much
improved since their last game with
the Lightning in October and the
game was more of a back-and-forth
affair. The only goal of the game was
a Kailyn Soers point shot that eluded
the Brantford goaltender and went
past and in. The shot came off a face-
off win by Kelly Gribbons that was
fed back to the point by Tori
Terpstra.
Shea Tiley stopped all Ice-Cat
scoring attempts to earn the shutout
in net.
Next weekend the Lightning travel
to Whitby to participate in the
Tournament of Heroes, a tribute to
fallen Canadian Armed Forces
members.

Burgundy ousts Goderich
On Sunday, the Blyth Brussels
Bantam LL Burgundy hockey team
hosted Goderich. Goderich scored
midway through the first to take the
lead. Four minutes later, Nic Zwep,
assisted by Ben Newell, tied it up.
With lots of passing back and forth
between the two teams, it was with
just a minute left in the first that
Goderich pulled ahead, making it 2-
1.
In the second period, Brett
Glousher accepted a pass from
Newell and scored to tie the game
again. Early in the third, Zwep
scored, unassisted, to take a 3-2 lead.
The action continued from end to
end. With just eight seconds left,
Cameron Gauthier passed the puck to
Josh Gibbons, who shot it in the net,
to end the game 4-2 for Blyth
Brussels.
Their next game is Tuesday, Dec. 4
at 7:30 p.m. in Brussels against
Wingham.
