The event, which featured the two bands to raise money for the Nicaraguan home build which Watson will be a part of, netted $600. (Denny Scott photo) Musical fundraiser held to build a home in NicaraguaThe white stuff has arrived and forme it helps to make it real –Christmas is less than a month away.Oh my – that’s enough to make you sit up and take notice and perhaps get a few details in order. For starters I need to organize the many, many pictures cluttered all over the dining room table. For two years now I’ve been gathering and copying pictures of my history. Lately they have been getting into piles. Pictures of grandparents and parents of babies and children and weddings and gatherings. This week all the pictures will be in books for my brothers and sons. My goodness it takes a long time. I’ve really enjoyed the family resemblances at different stages of relatives’ lives. One person can look like a brother, a niece or a child at their different stages. So as much as it feels like I’ve been at this forever, the end is in sight. Music and stew from Sunday will help buy building material in Nicaragua. Music by John and Wendy Watson, Peter Pryce, BruceMutton and John Payne as well asDon and Dale Chesher, DoreenCardiff and Ron Howatt had folks singing along to many familiar tunes. Donations from the fun afternoon will help in February to give someone a home. The Santa Claus parade is on Saturday – the unofficial start of Christmas. A time for the children to get their list pared down to a manageable number. For the adults with them it’s their time to see in the eyes of innocence, the anticipation, the hope and the love of this joyous season on the way. So enjoy. The Majestic WI of Brussels held a soup, sandwich and euchre luncheon at the Brussels Library on Thursday, Nov. 22. Winners were: high ladies, Edna McLellan and Dona Knight; high men, Forrest Whittard and Jim Bowman; lone hands, Yvonne Knight, Jim Knight, Les Knight, Jim Armstrong and Jean Bewley. As the concerts and parties arrive, be sure to look after yourself as youmingle with many others. Eat right, sleep enough, breath deeply and forgoodness sake wash your hands often. Wish Betty Campbell a happy day on Saturday, you know the tune. Enjoy the moments of Advent. Bye now, Betty G.W.
