The Senior Girls team consisted of, from left, Brianna Bird, Rachael Nivins, Holly Howson, and Tristin Cook as well as, not shown, Marion Studhalter and Nicole Jacobs. (Photo submitted) By Maureen Lisle The Madill cross-country team travelled to Strathroy to compete at the Western Ontario Secondary School Athletics Association (WOSSAA) championships. After last week’s wet and stormy weather for the Huron Perth meet, the warm sunshine was a welcome relief for the runners. The trails were wooded with long loops that did not repeat. Although no Madill runners advanced to Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) events, the team ran well with nine of the 13 runners achieving substantial ‘personal best’ times for their race distances. The best team placing for Madill came in the Midget Boys division with Drew McKeachnie, Brandon Marshall, Michael Schraa, Tanner Stevenson and Lyndon Smith earning a sixth place finish. This meet marked the end of a successful season for the team. Most of the runners worked hard at practices, contributed well to the team and were able to improve their fitness and performances over the course of the season.
