Thank you in advance for supporting the RLP poppy canvass. The poppy has been widely recognized as a symbol of Remembrance, since it was first adopted in 1921. By wearing a poppy, we demonstrate our gratitude to those who gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy. Over 66,000. Canadians died during the First World War. Simple wooden crosses marked their graves and soon bright red poppies grew among them. Canadian Army Doctor, John McCrae made the poppies famous in his poem In Flanders Fields. Today the poppy is still worn as the symbol of Remembrance. The poppy is worn on the left lapel above the heart. A reminder to keep those who have fallen, in our heart and prayers and that “We Will Remember Them.” Comrades Glenn Bridge and Cecil Moore are looking for any men out there who would be interested in playing crib some afternoon at the Branch for the winter. Nothing fancy, just an afternoon of play. Regardless of what the various bills are called when and if they are tabled under a new government, the main issues affecting Ontario farm families will not be forgotten. Respect for the environment including farmland and soils, fair treatment of farmers and farm businesses and the development of partnerships that help rural Ontario thrive will always be priorities for the OFA. The Ontario legislators may not be sitting, but Ontario farm families still have the opportunity to make sure elected officials understand our messages and are equipped with the information required to craft sound legislation moving forward.
