Do you have an idea that relates to the Huron County Museum or Historic Gaol? Maybe you want to find out more about what they have to offer? If so, the Huron County Museum wants to hear from you. The public is invited to an informal strategic planning session being held for the Huron County Museum and Historic Gaol on Oct. 27 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Blyth Festival’s Bainton Gallery. During this event, museum staff and consultants will be on hand to listen to feedback about heritage and cultural projects as they related to the Huron County Museum and Historic Gaol. Free refreshments and fun activities for children will be set up throughout the afternoon during this drop-in event. “We would like to extend personal invitations to each and every individual in Huron County to come and contribute their voice to this important discussion about the Museum and Gaol,” says Director of Cultural Services Meighan Wark. “Both facilities are important heritage and cultural resources in Huron County and tell uniquely Huron County stories. We want to make sure that we are doing this in ways that are seen as valuable to our community of Huron County.” This event is the latest in a series of meetings and activities being held in relation to the development of a new strategic plan for the museum. Throughout the summer and early fall, staff and consultants have met with various groups and stakeholders to discuss such topics as programming, exhibits and service delivery models. Local leaders from the tourism and economic development sectors have been participating in the process as well. It is anticipated that the final report and strategic plan will be available to the public in early 2013. If you aren’t available to attend, there is still the opportunity to participate through an online survey available at http://museum townhall.wordpress.com/ The online survey will close on Nov. 10, 2012.
