of the pure white threads and how
they speak of the future. No story
has yet been written to add colour to
the design, but the white threads
speak of us of our untold story as
we move into the future. Connie’s
two girls Andrea and Lindsay lit the
white candle and spoke of how
they will follow and be faithful to
God. A white shawl was then
added to the easel, and Mrs.
Coultes offered the prayer of
thanksgiving.
After the offering was received
and dedicated Rev. Tom Murray
spoke on the Mission of the UCW.
He remembered how the UCW at
the time took on the Nestle
Company with a boycott of their
milk products to third world
countries. Betty Ross then offered
the prayers of the people. Following
the singing of the hymn, “In the
bulb there is a flower”, Mrs. Folkard
then called Mrs. Jessie McGee,
Mrs. Barbara Anderson and Mrs.
Coultes to the front where she
thanked them for giving their
services to the UCW for 50 years.
They were each presented with
a bouquet of flowers by Ruth
Gordon.
Following the commissioning, the
congregation read the UCW
benediction and the service closed
with the singing of “Go Now In
Peace”.
A big thank you is extended to
Nancy Folkard and her committee
who put this service together, for all
the decorations at the front of
the church and the presentation
of the flowers to the charter
members.
