Brussels Fall Fair AmbassadorHannah McCutcheon headed off tothe CNE on Aug. 12 to participate in the CNE Ambassador of the Fairs competition. Hannah and the rest of the local Fall Fair ambassadors from within District 8 all rode to the CNE in the limo. From there Hannah participated in her interview with a panel of three judges. She felt she did a great job of her interview and was able to impress them with one of her own interesting CNE facts. For the next few days, all the ambassadors were kept busy attending different seminars – self defense, how to talk about agriculture and the proper ways to build your resume were some of the topics. They were given lots of free time to look around the CNE grounds, and to talk to people and explain who they were and why they were there. They also participated in the Mardi Gras parade, toured a farm and had a formal dinner above the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. On Sunday, the semi-finals were held in the morning at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, where each contestant came on stage and introduced themselves and their Agricultural Society. At 2 p.m. the final competition began where the top seven contestants wereannounced. The ambassadors thatwere in the top seven semi-finalists were: Milverton, Feversham, Norwood, Palmerston, Arthur, Rockton and Listowel. From there each contestant had to give their prepared speech. The judges then had to pick the top three finalists and they were from Norwood, Milverton and Listowel. These finalists had to answer an impromptu question which would decided a winner. The new CNE Ambassador of the Fairs was announced and it was Linda Slits from the Milverton Agricultural Society. There were a total of 66 contestants taking part in the competition. In attendance supporting Hannah were Brussels Agricultural Society President/Ambassador Co-ordinator Nicole Noble, Ambassador Co-chair Maggie Speer, Ruth Lowe, Morgan Deitner and from Hannah’s family Gary, Jane, Luke McCutcheon and a cousin Madison, and Tanner Cardiff. Hannah reports a great time and that she had a lot of fun. The Brussels Agricultural Society is extremely proud of Hannah for an awesome year as ambassador and wishes her all the best as she heads off to the University of Waterloo in the fall. McCutcheon represents Brussels at CNE Representing in Toronto Brussels Fall Fair Ambassador Hannah McCutcheon was in Toronto at the Canadian National Exhibition earlier this month representing her home village of Brussels at the annual CNE Ambassador of the Fairs competition.
