Rum running in play explores individual moralitiesContinued from page 3trade of rum running. What ismorality and who draws the line?Jesus proclaimed the spirit of thelaw instead of the letter of the law.
Christians have changed the laws
such as slavery and rule of thumb.
Morality has become an individual
thing. The church used to be for
temperance. We should work
together for a common ground. Lovebinds us in community. We mustlove God with all our heart and loveour neighbour as our self. Love isthe backbone of our community.
Love is eternal. The next hymn,
“God of Grace and God of Glory”
was sung.
The offering was received
followed by the singing of the
offering hymn “What Can I Do” theoffertory prayer, the prayers of thepeople and the singing of The Lord’sPrayer. The last hymn, “O MasterLet Me Walk With Thee” was sung
followed by the commissioning and
benediction.
Everyone was invited for coffee
and to enjoy the air conditioning,

PEOPLE AROUND
BELGRAVENoise not a concern at park
Continued from page 15
there are frequent dog fights in the
park and that bigger dogs will pick
on smaller ones. That statement was
also called into question.
However, while the complaints
continued, the Optimists member
said “It’s a park, what do you
expect?”
The dog park is right beside the
baseball park, which runs all
summer with lights to facilitate night
games. Several councillors pointed
out that the ball park, along with its
noise, had been there for decades
before House and her family had
moved there.
Mayor Bernie MacLellan said
there is some noise that comes with
living by a park. If kids are going to
be playing in a park, who are exactly
what parks are designed to
accommodate, MacLellan said, there
is going to be some noise, which is
part of living in such a
neighbourhood.
“It’s inappropriate to ask the kids
not to use the park,” MacLellan said.
“It is a park and kids are allowed to
play in the park.”
