court on July 12.
Judge R.G.E. Hunter sentenced
the woman after the case had gone
on for over two years, with the
original offenses dated April 27,
2010.
Donna Jane Young was found
guilty of two charges of possession
of stolen property, one charge of
possession of a stolen credit card and
one charge of failing to attend court
from Jan. 19, 2012, when her trial
was originally supposed to be heard.
Young was originally facing 11
charges, but one was dismissed and
several others were withdrawn over
the course of the trial.
Young was found to be in
possession of two stolen driver’s
licences and a stolen credit card
when she was stopped by WinghamPolice on April 27, 2010, said CrownAttorney Chris Uwagboe.
The first driver’s licence belonged
to Mike Mlotschek of Kitchener.
He said he left his wallet in his car
one night in 2007 and when he came
out to his car in the morning, found
that the wallet had been taken after
he likely left his car unlocked
overnight.
The morning he discovered his
wallet was missing, he testified, he
filed a report with the Waterloo
Police reporting his wallet stolen,
which contained his driver’s licence
and his TD Emerald VISA credit
card.
Mlotschek said he didn’t hear
anything more about his wallet until
recently when he was subpoenaed to
come to court in Wingham.
The second driver’s licence
belonged to Renee Carpenter (whohad since married, her name at thetime of the incident was Renee
Albers).
Carpenter, who also testified at the
trial, said she had recently filed
paperwork with the Ministry of
Transportation to receive a new
driver’s licence that would reflect
her new address in Kitchener. She
never received it in the mail,
however. Several event tickets that
went missing in the mail as well.
Carpenter said she moved to her
new home, an apartment complex in
Kitchener with approximately 40
units, in January of 2009 and she
was expecting her new driver’s
licence in the mail in March, 2009.
While checking the mail,
Carpenter said, she noticed some
damage to her mailbox on the inside
top corner, that made her suspect
that someone was breaking into hermailbox.Carpenter said she made a
complaint to the building manager
and then to the Waterloo Police, but
nothing ever came of it.
After doing some more research,
Carpenter testified, she had found
that several applications had been
made in her name for various credit
cards, all of which were denied. In
addition several event tickets that
were never recovered went missing
and upon attending the event,
Carpenter said she and her boyfriend
at the time found people sitting in
their seats. The people said they had
purchased the tickets from someone
online in the Kitchener/Waterloo
area.
Carpenter said she recognized
Young from the apartment complex,
saying that she couldn’t confirm that
she lived in the building, but saidthat she had seen Young in thebuilding several times in the few
months she had lived there before
her mail began disappearing.
Carpenter said she had seen her
frequent an apartment across the hall
and several doors over from her. In
subsequent weeks, however, there
was an eviction notice placed on the
door and Carpenter said she didn’t
see Young again that until that day in
Wingham court.
Young’s defense attorney Phil
Cornish suggested that perhaps
Carpenter could have been visiting
family in the Woodstock area and
could have lost her licence there,
which Young would later suggest,
but Hunter said that was not
plausible, as Carpenter had never
actually received the licence in the

PLAN NUMBER 7-3-717 ATTRACTIVE TWO-STOREY HOME
This attractive two-storey home features a ground-floor entry and would be ideal for a family with active young children. The main living
area is next to the kitchen and on the same level as the bedrooms, making it easy to keep an eye on the youngsters.
A large unfinished area in the basement would make an excellent play room, or could be developed into a self-contained suite, while
the den adjacent to the foyer would make a convenient home office.
Upstairs, the large great room with its vaulted ceiling and fireplace feature wall makes the perfect setting for watching television, reading
and visiting with friends. A railing along the side of the great room provides views to the foyer below.
The adjoining kitchen and dining area feature an optional buffet and a large work island with an eating bar. Sliding glass doors open to
a sundeck with plenty of room for patio furniture and a barbecue.
The master bedroom includes a three-piece ensuite and a bayed window with a wide sill that could be used as a window seat. Two
additional bedrooms at the front of the house share the main three-piece bathroom. A closet for linen is situated just outside this bathroom.
A coat closet and laundry facilities are located on the ground floor.
The exterior of this home is enhanced by decorative windows, wood trim and an attractive peaked roof. The appealing porch entry will
be even more charming with the addition of all-weather furniture, seasonal planters and hanging baskets.
