God does not promise to lift the burden away
(J.R. Miller,“Intimate Letters on Personal Problems” 1914)
A Scripture promise reads, “Cast your burden upon the Lord--and He shall sustain you.”
Psalm 55:22. Every burden you have, you may cast on the Lord; that is, you may lay it
on Him in prayer and by faith. But notice that God does not promise to lift the burden
away--all He promises is to sustain you, that is, to give you strength to do the work, to
bear the burden, to meet the difficulty, to master the hindrance or the obstacle.

Big Shukie
Big Shukie, the inukshuk in the background, was donated to Maple and Moose instead of
being destroyed after Campvention members were done with it. Accepting the donation are

Campvention may be over, but Big Shukie remainsMembers of Campvention wantedto leave a little bit of their event
behind in Blyth to make sure the
camping extravaganza wasn’t soon
forgotten.
To that end, Karl (Bud) and Jean
Bedford of Brantford and Dave and
Maureen Walker of Phelpston were
on hand on Friday, July 20 to donate
Big Shukie to Maple and Moose in
Blyth.
Big Shukie, a massive inukshuk
crafted from wood, chicken wire,papier-mâché and granite paintingnow resides in the back of the store, and it’s a far better home than whatwas in mind according to Walker,
who, along with his wife Maureen,
created it.
“It took nearly five weeks to
make,’ He said. “We used a
reinforced wooden frame and the
whole thing locks together. We were
just going to destroy it, but this is
better.”
Walker said that he had visited
Maple and Moose near a year ago
and talked to owner Bev Elliottregarding Campvention and theirtheme this year; path to friendship, which includes theinukshuk.
They explained to Elliott that, if
she stocked inukshuks, the items
would probably sell well.
The project was the first
woodworking project that Dave had
embarked upon since his youth and
he was excited to have the
opportunity to do it.
He said that the project would not
have been so successful if their local
hardware store had not supplied thematerials to them at a discount.“We used six gallons of dilutedwood glue to make the papier-mâché,” he explained. “A lot of work
and materials went in
and we got everything at a reduced
rate.”
Elliott made a donation to
Campvention’s scholarship program
to thank the group for the donation. Eligible members or children ofmembers split the scholarshipmoney equally each year and lastyear each one received $1,400 to
help with their education
“This year we have three
recipients,” Jean said. “They will
receive their scholarship at our
Labour Day camping event.”

Mel for his chats along the street as
he headed for the coffee shop.
Happy birthday to Kelsey Kerr

Mother Nature has given us
another hot and humid week. The
little rain we have received went up
in steam as it hit the ground. Our
lawns are brown and in much need
of rain. The farmers are also wishing
for a rain for their crops.
On July 19 the Lions Club held a
porkchop barbecue as part of
Campvention.
Funds received will go back into
the community.
