CALDWELL. In loving memory of
my dear husband, Ralph, who passed
away June 30, 1999.
As I sit here with your picture,
It seems to me that you are saying,
I’m waiting here for you in Heaven,
And for that day I am praying.
My thoughts are always with you,
And when my life is through,
I pray that God will take my hand,
And lead me straight to you.

missed by your wife, Gladys. 26-1p

CALDWELL. In loving memory of
a special father, grandfather and

You talked with everyone you met,
Shared jokes as you passed by,
Loved your family and your friends,
Had a twinkle in your eye.
Can it be thirteen years without you?
We still miss you every day,
We will always love and remember
you,
Each in our own special way.

Morris-Turnberry Council is
trying to figure out what to do with
an unexpected gift.
At their June 19 meeting
councillors were told by Nancy
Michie, administrator clerk-
treasurer, that the Heart and Stroke
Association was presenting Morris-
Turnberry with a defibrillator. The
municipality had not applied for
one.
The discussion then took place as
to where the defibrillator should be
located to make it most useful to the
public. Normally such equipment is
placed in places of high traffic like
arenas for to use for those suffering
heart attacks but there are no such
places in Morris-Turnberry. There
was some discussion about placing it
in Bluevale Hall but for the time
being it will be placed at the
municipal office.
Municipal staff will train to use the
equipment as well as to perform
CPR on July 4.
Due to the closure of a
neighbouring show the Bluewater
Kennel Club Dog Show has changed
their schedule for the first time in 33
years.
Florence Pullen, the treasurer and
obedience chair person for the show,
explained that the Oxford County
dog show folded and that allowed
the Bluewater Kennel Club, who had
always held their show mid-week as
to not clash with the Oxford show, to
move later in the weekend and be
held from Thursday 5 through
Saturday, July 7.
“We’re hoping that with the
weekend we get a larger number of
entries,” she said. “We’re also
hopeful that more will also stay and
participate longer since there isn’t
another nearby show to get to on the
last day. “
The show is a definite point of
interest for the warm-weather Huron
County traveller.
Featuring handlers and breeders
from around the continent, and dogs
from around the world, the event
showcases canines as paragons of
their breed, as champions of
obedience, and as models in their
group, according to Bluewater
Kennel Club President Joe Lobb.
The event, which is the only
Canadian Kennel Club-sanctioned
purebreed competition in the area,
provides an opportunity for tourists
and residents of Huron County alike
to get a glimpse of the world of dog
breeding, handling and training that
they otherwise may have to travel
outside of South-Western Ontario
for.
Dogs can compete through several
different programs, including,
obedience trials, and breed judgings.
The veteran class that was recently
added for dogs seven years and older
will continue this year, however the
baby puppy class is being dropped
as well as the agility competition.
A breeder’s competition will also
be continued this year, allowing
breeders to show what they’re
capable of instead of handlers,
which are widely used throughout
the dog show circuit.
“Dog shows used to be about
breeders showing their dogs, but its
not as common as it used to be,” he
said. “Most dogs are shown by
handlers, this contest will only be
for people to show dogs the y have
bread themselves.”
Lobb says the show is a real
tourism draw, both for the presenters
and the animals.
“In the past we’ve had people
come from overseas, but recently it’s
been mostly from the states,” Lobb
said, adding that previous year’s
shows have brought in contestants
and tourists from more than 11
different states.
