The grass will be growing over our graves!
(J. C. Ryle)
“It is appointed unto men once to die, and after that to face judgment!” Hebrews 9:27
All things are growing older--the world is growing old; we ourselves are growing older.
A few more summers, a few more winters, a few more sicknesses, a few more sorrows,
a few more weddings, a few more funerals, a few more meetings and a few more
partings--and then--what?Why, the grass will be growing over our graves!

Rev. Clark tells his own parable
Greeting worshippers at Blyth
United Church on Sunday, June 17
were Barb and Terry Richmond.
Ushering were Terry Richmond,
Laurie Sparling, Brenda Brooks and
Donna Moore. Floyd Herman was
music director and Fred and Deb
Hakkers were running the power
point. Emily Phillips, in Rev. Clark’s
absence, welcomed everyone to
church. She also wished all the fathers
in attendance Happy Father’s Day.
She drew everyone’s attention to
the announcements printed in the
bulletin with special mention that
there will be no church service at
Blyth United on Sunday, June 24 as
they will be joining the community
church service at the Blyth Public
School.
The call to worship, “All Who are
Thirsty” was sung followed by the
prayer of approach and the first
hymn, “Come In, Come In and Sit
Down.” Emily told the congregation
that the children are allowed to come
to conference weekend with their
parents and participate in a mini-
Bible Vacation School for the
weekend.
The scripture was from Matthew
18: 2-6 which Emily read from her
father’s Bible. The choir sang an
anthem, “Silver Haired Daddy of
Mine” which was one of the first
recordings that Gene Audrey had
recorded.
The message to the adults was,
“Wheel Wisdom”. The congregation
watched a video of Rev. Gary
Clark’s speech to London
Conference. Rev. Clark told the
story of himself and a 13-year-old
boy setting out on their bikes to ride
to Grand Bend for the conference.
Rev. Clark told the story of riding
along and he took the lead to
Londesborough which was a fairly
even place. The 13-year-old took the
lead the next time to Clinton and it
was a much greater pace. Finally,
Rev. Clark showed the boy the way
they were going to travel and they
set out with the boy away in the lead.
He sometimes looked back to see if
Rev. Clark was coming. They picked
up another rider in Bayfield and
away they went. Rev. Clark at the
back again, the riders in the front
kept looking back to see if he was
still coming.
They finally arrived at the
destination out of breath because
they had been riding into the wind.
Rev. Clark’s message to conference
was that if we show the young
people the way they will get us to
the place we are going.
There was much laughter at

Students prepare for year end
By Phaedra Scott
Everyone is getting excited as the
end of the year is getting closer nd
closer. School is winding down and
all that’s left is finishing projects and
small activities in class for the
intermediate grades. With
graduation coming up, the Grade 8
students have put all their focus into
finishing their assigned yearbook
pages and getting ready for related
events. The lipdub is well underway
and promises to be better than ever.
The Grade 7/8 students joined the

Greenway celebrates 10 years
June 24 marks the 10th
anniversary of the Blyth Greenway
Memory Gardens. As a special
event, organizers will be releasing
Monarch butterflies.
Live butterflies will add a truly
magical and memorable
addition to the special day, while
increasing the butterfly population
in nature.
The butterflies arrive individually
packaged as young adults, ready to
begin a new life. When they are
released they return to nature to lay
eggs and/or migrate.
Each butterfly is hand raised and
will be delivered as a young adult,
ready to begin a new life, the day
before the service, complete with
instructions and individual release
boxes as well as the butterfly Indian
legend. Butterflies are the universal
symbol of hope and a new
beginning.
Davara Studio have graciously
formed and donated 54 butterflies
out of pottery clay and the students
from Grade 1-6 have painted them.
These will be an added feature in the
gardens.
The service is at 2 p.m. at the east
end of Drummond Street. Bring a
lawn chair. Refreshments will be
served. This would also be a great
opportunity to walk the Greenway
Trail.
