Being handicapped I seldom go to parties or dances. I can’t skate, even walking very far is hard for me. But what I do have is my church family, great neighbours and friends, the love of my family and each year, “The Special Olympics Torch Run”. For one day in the spring I get to spend the whole day with other people like myself and my OPP friends. We raise money so special needs athletes can afford to participate in the “Special Olympics”. I want to thank my friends, neighbours, family and church family for your many years of donations and support. Over the years with your help I have raised well over $17,000. On June 17 in London, I’m getting “Award of Honour” for the amount I have raised for the Torch Run. I would also like to thank Brenda Carey who got me started participating in the Torch Run and to Russ Nesbitt who has made sure I get to and from the run each year. Russ and fellow officers make this a special day for all. Thank you – Love, Kendra Carter. 24-1p -------------------------------------------- MARSHALL. The family of the late Elvey Marshall, thanks the medical staff for their care of Elvey. Thanks to Pastor Steve Hildebrand for a caring true-to-life account of a wonderful man. Thanks for the years of care from “Elvey’s Girls”. You all made his life a little more bearable. Special thanks to friends and all those who took the time out of their busy lives to drop by with kind words, food, hugs and helping hands. Thanks to McGlynn Funeral Home for the care and compassion bestowed upon our families. Thanks again to all our family for your support and love in your time of grieving as well. Special thanks to a loving husband, father and grandfather who will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Thanks for being our everything. – The Marshall family. PEARSON.
