True Christian living in the world
(“Golden Thoughts” 1879)
“Do not love the world, or anything in the world!” 1 John 2:15
True Christian living in the world, is like a ship sailing on the ocean. It is not the ship
being in the water which will sink it--but the water getting into the ship! So, in like
manner, the Christian is not ruined by living in the world, which he must do while he
remains in the body--but by the world living in him.
The world in the heart has ruined millions of immortal souls!
How careful is the mariner to guard against leakage, lest the water entering into the
vessel should, by imperceptible degrees, cause the vessel to sink; and ought not the
Christian to watch and pray, lest Satan and the world should find some unguarded inlet
to his heart?
“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” Proverbs 4:23

You get what you pay for: Clark
Greeting worshippers at Blyth
United Church on Sunday, June 10
was Myrtle Badley. Ushering were
Doug Whitson, Andrew Wharton,
David Onn and Laurie Sparling.
Floyd Herman was music director
and Fred Hakkers ran the power
point. Rev. Gary Clark welcomed
everyone to church on this Baptism
Sunday. He drew everyone’s
attention to the announcements in
the June bulletin and the ones
scrolling on the power point.
The call to worship, “All Who are
Thirsty” was sung. The words of
approach were repeated
responsively followed by the
repeating of the new creed. The
children were asked to come to the
front and prepare the water for the
baptism. The choir sang the hymn,
“You are Loved” and inserted
Dylan’s name into the hymn. The
scripture was from Mark 3: 20-35.
Rev. Clark’s message to the
congregation was “You Get What
You Pay For”. The congregation
watched a clip from the new story of
Snow White. Sunday was a
reflection on the older days. Music
of today reflects today’s feelings of
the people. The clip of the movie
expresses that good is on the run and
that evil is here. In today’s world we
don’t trust that our children are safe.
In years gone by our children could
play outside with little supervision
but today we feel they are not safe
especially in the larger
communities. In the movie, the
princess needed a blessing and she
did get the blessing in the movie. We
have eyes but we don’t see.
Often the church is the last place
that people come to for a blessing.
We the people of the church need to
help people to see that they can trust
us and come to us for help. God
wants to communicate with us and
we want to communicate with Him.
We must be consistent in the things
we do and be honest and show our
children by being honest and admit
when we are wrong. We must take
responsibility to respect the law for
example staying within the speed
limits as they are posted. We have to
be ready to help the families in the
community our best ability.
The offering was received
followed by the offering hymn, the
offertory prayer, the prayers for the
people, silent prayers and the
singing of The Lord’s Prayer. The
commissioning and benediction was
followed by the singing of the
closing response. Everyone was
invited for coffee and treats.
Blyth PS busy
with track and
field, events
By Phaedra Scott
June is turning out to be a very
busy month. The classes that did
not go to regional track and field or
the robotics tour, participated in
playday with other students. Mrs.
Roe was quite impressed about
how well the students co-operated
and worked so well together in
their teams. It was a fun day.
The Grade 1/2 class liked all the
games that Mrs. Zembashi
organized. In the classroom, they
continue to learn about our great
country of Canada as they study
