The HuronCounty Library in Wingham wants to ensure that all citizens have an opportunity to learn about the community services that could help;should an individual or their friendor neighbour need help.The Huron County Library has undertaken a new initiative that provides more than books and computers. Local service agenciessuch as Rural Response for HealthyChildren, Centre for Employmentand Learning and the Community Legal Clinic are visiting the library each week to answer questions and provide information and referrals. Library staff are also at the readyto provide self-help books, as well as the regular resources. The list of agencies participating in this project is growing. Below is a list of some of the helping agencies that will visit the Wingham Library on Tuesday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. • Huron County Social Services • Salvation Army – Wingham • United Way • Community Legal Clinic • Choices for Change • Huron County Health Unit/ Social Services • Safe Homes for Youth • Renascence and Delta • Women’s Shelter • Children’s Aid Society • Victim Services • Community Psych Services • CMHA/Crisis Line • Huron Perth Centre for Children and Youth The hope is that patrons recognize the library is a source of information, and that informationcan be gathered from books,computers and from people! Thepeople of our community are at the ready to offer help in many ways. This project will provide and opportunity to meet some of the helping professionals in the community and make available an opportunity important information exchange. IYLA JANE ELLIOTT Iyla Elliott of Wingham, passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Thursday, May 24, 2012. She was 76. Iyla was the beloved wife of Walter Elliott (married 2001-2012) and the late Robert Burchill (married 1954-1993). She was the loving mother of Beverley Elston of RR 4, Wingham, Barry Burchill of RR 3, Wingham, Brenda and Craig Brydges and Bonnie Burchill of Mississauga. Iyla was the dear sister of Deanne and Ralph Dickson, Glen and Reta Allan and Andy Allan and June Lowry. She is survived by Walter’s family Paul and Kathy Elliott, Ruth and Paul Laidlaw, Barry and Crystal Elliott, David and Susan Elliott and Karen Keppel-Jones. Iyla is lovingly remembered by 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by Marie Dickert, Lois and Bob Kerr, Margaret Weltz and several nieces and nephews. Iyla was predeceased by her son-in-law Larry Elston in 2007, her sisters Connie Allan and Reta Dahms, brother-in-law Ronald Dahms, one grandson and one great- granddaughter. Visitation was held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Saturday. The funeral service was held at Lucknow Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Interment is in Wingham Cemetery. Memorial donations to Lucknow Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Robarts Research Lab would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
