Ushering were Mary Lou Stewart, Cliff Snell and David Onn. Floyd Herman was music director and Fred Hakkers ran the power point. Nancy Cameron of Dungannon-Ashfield Pastoral Charge was in charge of the service in the absence of Rev. Gary Clark who was preaching at Dungannon- Ashfield Churches. Nancy drew everyone’s attention to the announcements printed in the bulletin. Special mention was that there will be no service at Blyth United on Sunday, June 3 as everyone is invited to Camp Menesetung for the Sunday school’s annual Awards Sunday. Service is at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is also invited to a pancake breakfast sponsored by the camp board. Cost is adults $7, children 6-10, $3 and will be served from 8 a.m. to noon. The call to worship, “Come All You People: was sung followed by the prayer of approach. The children were asked to come to the front for their story time. Nancy told the children of her trip to Australia as an exchange teacher that her and her family had been on. They saw many things and she had brought home a bagful of puppets of the animals natural to Australia. They included a koala, Tasmania devil, platypus and many others. She told the children that God looks after all different kinds of animals and He also looks after all of us even though we are very different. They said a prayer along with the congregation. The children went downstairs for their time of fellowship. The scripture was fromActs 2: 1-21. The choir sang theanthem, “Holy Spirit Hear Us” oneof the first hymns printed.Nancy’s message to the adults was “A New Beginning”. Nancy told the congregation of her trip to Australia. The Camerons had seen many animals as she had told the children and witnessed many beautiful scenes. (Jim Brown photo) Continued on page 14 By Phaedra Scott I’m sure all the participants of track and field on Thursday are feeling the effects of their efforts. Records were broken and I’m sure some people were pushed to their physical limits, but everyone had a great time and the day was deemed a success. A huge thank you to Mrs. Cronin who gave her time to give out ribbons and keep score. Friday was the celebration tea day. Many came in and shared their stories and history at Blyth Public School over tea and cake. The Grade 8 students are really starting to get excited for Camp Celtic, which they will be heading to on Monday morning. They’ve packed their bags and are looking forward to an action-packed trip. By Hunter Dale The senior kindergarten students have been working on finishing their number story booklets and solving them using four strategies: fingers, picture, number line and ten frame. They have solved complicated math addition problems where they have to add twice. They have been concentrating on the letters W, H and Y. Their bean seeds are growing and they measure and water them daily. The junior kindergarten students have been learning all about the letter G. They have been reviewing our 2D shapes and playing their favourite game: colour and shape bingo. They have been talking about Local track and field held Sympathy is extended to Laurie and Steven Sparling and family in the death of Laurie’s grandmother this past week. Congratulations to Jim and Thelma Wilson who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past week. Happy birthday to Marg (Scrimgeour) Marks of Windsor who celebrates her birthday on June 4; Grant Sparling and Albert Wasson, June 5. The Blyth Campground was full of campers this past weekend with the annual Barn Dance. The weather was excellent for camping. We wish George Hubbard a speedy recovery and hope he will soon be home. Couple celebrates 60 years Continued on page 14 NH council meetings moved North Huron Township Council is hoping to encourage the involvement of all their ratepayers by holding regular council meetings across the township. June 4 council will meet at the Emergency Services Training Centre (ESTC) in Blyth for their regular meeting at 7 p.m. June 21 the township will hold its council meeting at the Belgrave Community Centre beginning at 7 p.m.
