What do we have here?
Frank and John Flynn were out and about on Saturday for
the annual Brussels village-wide yard sale, checking out
what one resident had to offer. (Jim Brown photo)
Village-wide yard sale makes Brussels busy
Brussels was a busy spot Friday
and Saturday. Sales were all over
the place. At the market the good
stuff was out for all to enjoy. First
the visual impact of good things to
see, then smell and with a little
discernment then buy and enjoy.
Lots of mingling and music, thanks
Dale, Don and Ron. Another
pleasant afternoon with the varied
vendors.
The yard/garage sales started on
Friday and really got going on
Saturday morning. It’s amazing how
many cars stop to view the
treasures. Smiling faces were seen
all over as buyers and sellers each
enjoyed the place of the item in their
life. It’s the most fun way to recycle.
Good news was shared this week
as the gossip was confirmed.
Michelle, Mike, Sarah and Andy
will be our newest village business
owners as they offer hardware and
decorating items to us. Good luck,
you’ll do great.
Meanwhile Jim and Darlene
Oldfield are seen out and about
smiling a lot. Has it to do with the
recent sale of their business to the
Dauphin and Overholts or is it the
new reality of Max who has recently
entered their lives. Numerous
pictures of an Alberta baby are
available for your viewing pleasure.
Be sure to ask and enjoy that look of
love from new grandparents. EnjoyMax.The Blyth Festival Singersorganized a fun night on Saturday atthe Stanley Township complex
called Broadway, Brass and Blues.
Delicious food, a silent auction and
wonderful music sent everyone
away smiling. Familiar names of the
choir who did the work include
Agnes Schell, Joan Perrie, Yvonne
Martin, Gail Lear, Jill and John
Beardsley, Lena Seegers, Willi
Laurie, Brenda Radford, James
Mintz and George Ribey. Guest
soloist Anne Potter is someone to
watch – she is a very talented young
lady.
Renewable energy is a subject
that can cause all sorts of reactions
in people. We all have our sources
and origins for our thoughts and the
discussion rages on as it will for
years to come. If you have a need
for information about wind turbines,
June 5 the UCW have organized an
evening with Barbara Ashbee and
David Hemingway sharing their
views. So come to the United
Church for 7 p.m. Enjoy the
refreshments while you gain
information.
A new detail about Kids Corner.
The staff from Camp Kintail will be
offering the week of fun and
Christian education for the kids in
our lives this year. It starts at 1 p.m.
on Aug. 13 and will run all the
afternoons of that week. So that’s a
change of date and staffing. So be
sure to bring the grandkids, some of
them may know the leaders if they
attended Camp Kintail last year. So
redo the calendar and don’t fret
about looking at August already.
Take care of yourself.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
