WI donates to faircommittee, exploresmarble bench
On Tuesday, May 15 Audrey
Fenton welcomed 14 members and
six guests to the regular Women’s
Institute meeting beginning with the
opening ode, the Mary Stewart
Collect and the WI Grace. A potluck
dinner was enjoyed by everyone.
The program convenor, Nancy
Jardin, read “A Farmer’s Wife” and
“The Girlfriend Dinner”. She then
introduced Janny Fear who spoke
about and demonstrated the
importance of a proper fitting bra.
She had on display three examples
of the best garments, stressing ones
with a shelf and non-elastic straps.
These improve comfort, posture and
appearance and should be washed
by hand and air dried.
After answering questions she
distributed information and was
thanked with a gift. The business
meeting began with the roll call. As
each member gave their volunteer
hours they were given a rose made
of birch fibre. The minutes of the
last meeting and the financial
report was given by Diana
Robinson.
It was agreed to donate $500 to
the school fair board and explore the
possibility of placing a marble
bench in the Kinsmen Park and a
dishwasher at the community
centre. Several members offered to
help prepare healthy snacks at East
Wawanosh Public School.
The next meeting will be on June
19 at Knox United Church.
