In this modern day societyfamilies are very busy and mosthouseholds have two jobs. And asthe weather warms up there is agreat deal of work to do outside. Not to mention the fact that families have spread out across the country or around the globe as never before. It is heartwarming to recognize time is taken to visit or call to essentially offer thanks on this particular day. What is more satisfying than a hug from a child no matter his/her age? I did wonder during church that morning, however, what has happened to the tradition of wearing a flower on one’s lapel. In my mother’s day and passed on it was expected to visit the garden that morning for a flower to pin on. It was a sign of respect, I suppose, for a white flower was the choice for someone who had lost their mom to death. By BRENDA RADFORD Call 523-4296 PEOPLE AROUND LONDESBORO NEWS FROM LONDESBORO Service provides chance to reconnect with family The service at Londesborough United Church was a particularly nice tribute to the date as well. Many of the mothers in attendance had extra family members/guests sharing the pews with them. Peter and Sherry Postma honoured family by placing flowers on the memorial table for us all to consider. We all renewed our connection with our faith family by sharing in Communion. Assisting minister Terry Fletcher with the sacrament were Helen Lyons, Brenda Konarski, Murray Adams, Adrian Salverda, Mel Knox and Carmen Drost. The tradition of holding baptism on Family Sunday at Londesborough United brings us all in touch again with the joy of new life by welcoming another into our faith community. Michael and Erin Yantzi presented their new wee son, Joshua Paul, to the congregation that morning. As Fletcher noted, presenting a child for baptism is a way for the parents to state to the world that they stand for Christ. Welcome, Joshua, to the Londesborough United family.
