THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MAY 10, 2012.Huron East approves Grey tanker purchase After a slight delay and a return to the drawing board last year, Huron East Council approved the purchase of a new tanker for the Grey Fire Department. Council approved the purchase of a tanker from Fort Garry Fire Trucks out of Winnipeg for $199,843 (excluding taxes). Council authorized the total cost before taxes to go up to $206,000 for various customizations. Huron East Fire Chief and CEMC Marty Bedard said there were four points that made the Fort Garry truck more appealing than the other two proposals received by the municipality, despite being the most expensive of the three. After consulting with Grey Fire Chief Gary Boyer, Bedard said the extra compartment space was important, in addition to the truck’s heavier transmission. The truck included a hard suction hose, that would have cost extra on the other trucks and there was also the option to deduct $1,500 from the total price if the chassis is paid for on arrival at the Fort Garry plant in Winnipeg. Bedard says he expects the truck to arrive at the Grey station in November. Boyer thanked council for having the understanding to delay the purchase of the truck until the perfect truck for the job could be procured. “Thanks for the second chance,” Boyer said to council. “This truck will do the Grey boys a lot of good.” The other two offers were from ResQTech in Woodstock for $199,000 and from Metalfab from New Brunswick at $192,100. www.ServiceCanada.gc.ca/retirement 1 800 O-Canada 54 or older as of March 31, 2012 You may still obtain OAS/GIS at age 65 The age of eligibility for OAS/GIS will change gradually between 2023 and 2029 Starting in July 2013, Canadians who are eligible for, but not yet receiving OAS will have the flexibility to delay receiving it in exchange for a higher monthly amount at a later date. 53 or younger as of March 31, 2012 The number of working-age Canadians per senior is decreasing, placing additional pressure on the OAS program. 1 0 2 3 4 5 6 1990 2012 2030 idaanC egnog lnivie lrs aan e Ohr tos ftsd cor ane Oy (triucee Sgd Ale O .gnise rir) aSAOOA saredloro45 prin AO tilibigile 210213hcraMfos What does this mean for you? evoe Gh3 t20, 2l 1pri e Guhd tS anAr OOAoy ft /SAOniatbollitsyamuoYYo What does this mean for you? a pdaanf Ct onemnr e Smcond Ieetanrae Gu 56egataSIG What does this mean for you? nisiat rrato ss tanla p ) fSIGt (nemelppue S g f e oge aht *.7o 6m 65 tor) f saredloro45 2yluJnignitratS regnuoyro35 ofegnahcxeniti ue nhT 2102,13hcraMfos gileeraohwsnaidanaC,3102 2102,13hcrrcaMfosar atnuomaylhtnomrehgiharo anage Cagnikrof wr oebmu AOrofytilibigilefoegaehT /SAOniatbollitsyamuoYYo gniviecerteytontub,rr,ofelbig .etadretalata snaida llaudargegnahclliwSIG/SA 56egataSIG yttyilibixelfehtevahlliwSAO 9202dna3202neewtebyl gnivieceryaledot 1 2 3 4 5 6 ue nhT r eof anage Ca-gnikrof wr oebmu gnisareces dr ioiney srevr e snaida **g 0 **Sour e berr a foF tisiv eS.www 203020121990 ce: **Sour 9th Actuarial Report on the Old Age Security Program r me oruhcore b .adanCaeicvre 2030 9th Actuarial Report on the Old Age Security Program n oitamrofne iror m meriter/ac.gc. n tnem atnemailrao pt tcejbuS * llar co 0 O01 8 lavorppy ara adana-C0 O Y 1TT( 9-269-008-Y 1 )5019 By Shawn Loughlin The Citizen
