(Denny Scott photo) Club shares school book Eight members of the Walkerburn Club met at the home of Vera Penfound on April 16. Christena Gross was the president of the day. She read poems and told some stories from an old elementary school reader. The stories were quite interesting and brought back memories for some of the members. Christena followed with The Lord's Prayer in unison. Eileen McClinchey read the minutes of the March meeting and took the roll call, answered with each member’s favourite subject in school and ways to use vinegar. Ila gave the treasurer’s report. The next meeting will be held one week early on May 14 at the home of Christena Gross. Pat Hunking will be president of the day, Christena will provide lunch and Ila is on program. The afternoon was spent quilting a lap quilt. The week before, three club members met on two separate days to quilt a lap quilt. Vera had it bound and ready to show the members. Mary Elder also showed a lap quilt that she had machine quilted and bound. Vera served lunch of chocolate cake and ice cream and fresh fruit. After a social half hour some members went home while three members continued quilting for a while. Ila returned on Thursday and the quilt was completed at that time.
