It will cost you something!
(J.C. Ryle)
“And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow Me, cannot be My disciple.”
Luke 14:27
Do you wish your soul to be saved?
Then remember, you must choose who you will serve. You cannot serve both God and
mammon. You cannot be on two sides at once. You cannot be a friend of Christ--and a
friend of the world at the same time.
You must come out from the people of this world, and be separate; you must put up with
much ridicule, trouble, and opposition--or you are lost forever. You must be willing to
think and do things which the world considers foolish, and to hold opinions which are
only held by a few. It will cost you something? The stream is strong--and you have to
stem it. The way is narrow and steep--and it is no use saying it is not. But depend on it,
there can be no saving religion without sacrifices and self-denial.
“Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:17-18

Mrs. Armstrong’s class took part in a special educational
program that saw them work with students from Wingham
Public School on May 1. The program will have the classes
conspire via webcam to get to know each other and learn
together prior to meeting each other in person when their
classes are amalgamated and Blyth Public School is
closed. (Denny Scott photo)
Jonah and the whale explained
Greeting worshippers at Blyth
United Church on Sunday, May 6
were Barb and Doug Howson.
Ushering were Brenda Brooks,
Donna Moore and Nicole Kerr.
Floyd Herman was music director
and Fred Hakkers ran the power
point. David Onn welcomed
everyone to church in the absence of
Rev. Gary Clark who was attending
London conference weekend. There
was a moment of silence to prepare
for worship.
The call to worship was repeated
responsively followed by the first
hymn, “Jesus You Have Come”
followed by the prayer of approach
and the singing of The Lord’s
Prayer. The children were asked tocome to the front for their story timeduring the singing of the first twoverses of the hymn, “Jesus Bids UsShine.” David told the children of
the story of Jonah and the Whale.
God had asked Jonah to go to
Nineveh to repent and change their
ways. Jonah didn’t want to do what
God asked him to, so he stowed
away on a boat to Tarshish. While
out at sea there was a severe storm
and the ship was in trouble and the
sailors were afraid. The storm keptgetting worse and the sailors didn’tknow what to do. The captain foundJonah asleep and wondered how hecould sleep. Jonah admitted that he
was responsible for the storm
because he didn’t do what God had
asked him to do. He told the sailors
to throw him overboard and the
storm would quiet down.
Jonah was thrown overboard and a
whale swallowed him up. For three

Students build with Lego
By Phaedra Scott
Students participated in techno-
challenge this week and had a great
time building and learning (not to
mention the day off school). Ward,
Justin and Tiffany, or as they liked to
be called, The Geniuses and Tiffany,
took part in the biathlon which
consisted of building a car out of
Lego and making a structural tower
out of paper. The Bob the
Builderzz, Jamie, Andrew and
Andrew, took part in the
construction category, where they
had to build a marble-catching
contraption. Finally, The Million
Dollar Cars, Brennan, Morgan and
Brendan won the cable car
challenge! Congratulations
everyone.
