If you’re in the market for a little
extra twitch grass, the members of
the Horticultural Society are ready
for contact. On Saturday they were
out in full force checking, cleaning,
digging and mulching the village
flowerbeds. It was a huge job butwith many hands, shovels andsmiles and chuckles, the work wasfaced. Twitch grass was the biggestproblem and so more work is still
needed to rid the many beds. So feel
free to call Kathy Workman if you
need a little twitch in your life.
Mother’s Day is fast approaching
and one of the traditions that the
volunteer auxiliary of Huronlea has
established to celebrate this time is a
lunch and bake sale. So take note
and remember to visit Huronlea on
Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
You’ll enjoy good food, greet
friends and support the good work.

Silent auction succesful
By Jo-Ann McDonald
The Friday night supper of roast
pork was enjoyed by a great crowd
of over 50. This week is the last
supper for the season. It will be a
potluck of pork, ham, beef and
chicken.
The Saturday afternoon euchre had
10 tables of players. Winners were:
high, Grace and Bill, 71; second
high, three-way tie, Viola Adams and
Ruth Sharpin, John and Iola Subject
and Russell Smith and Eileen Sloan,
69; third high score, two-way tie,
Elunid McNair and Jean Bewley and
Glenn and Jean Bridge, 68; low,
Doreen and Gwen, 47.
The silent auction held at the
Branch on Saturday had a nice
variety of items donated by members
of the Branch and other friends.
There were over 100 items available
and the good crowd of bidders were
very happy with the choices. Thanks
to everyone.
The Sunday night dance crowd
enjoyed the music of the Red
Rascals. The crowd of over 80
people had an enjoyable evening
dancing to the great music of the
band. The Sunday night crew is still
missing Mary Bradshaw from the
group. We hope she will be back for
the next dance in June. She is
coming along nicely from her knee
surgery.
A reminder that there is no
Mother’s Day dinner at the Branch
this year.
We are glad to see Eric Ross out
and about and hope he continues to
improve from his surgery. We hear
Elaine Nichol is coming along nicely
and will hopefully soon be back in
Brussels.
THANK YOU to all who supported the
Brussels Legion Silent Auction.
The generosity of the members and friends of
the Branch was greatly appreciated.
