Wheeler named to select team
Brussels native and Colby College
sophomore goaltender Brianne
Wheeler was named to the New
England Small College Athletic
Conference All-League Second
Team on Friday, March 2.
The coaches from the entire
league vote for the team and, despite
scoring problems for the 6-17-2
Colby Mules, named Wheeler to the
team.
Wheeler was one of two goalies in
the league to have more than 600
saves in the year, stopping 669
attempts, and maintained a .918 save
percentage while playing 86 per cent
of her team’s ice time.
Since starting with the Mules last
year she has made 1,265 saves, 45
starts, five shutouts, a 2.49 goals-
against-average and a .923 save
percentage.
Wheeler was the only athlete from
Colby College in Waterville, Maine
to make the team.

Novices triumph over BCH
The Blyth Brussels Novice Local
League squad hosted BCH on
Saturday, March 10 for the last game
of the year and what a great way to
end it with a 2-1 victory.
The team got the first goal with
Jeffery Walden taking a pass from
Braden Radford to take the lead.
Going into the third period, all
tied up, Walden passed the puck
