destinations and activities en
francais. They will be creating
brochures, posters and postcards
dealing with this topic. In Grades 4
and 5, the students are learning about
the family, different types of
families, the home, and how to
describe members of their family,
also en francais.
In health class, Grades 1/2
students are learning about
medicines (how to take them safely)
and hazardous products. The junior
kindergarten and senior kindergarten
classes have just talked about what
the police do in our community and
are learning the importance of
keeping their teeth clean and healthy.
In the classroom, the Grade 1/2
class has started to focus on non-
fiction materials and understanding
their special text features.
Students in Grades 5-8 had an
awesome time skiing at Chicopee.
The weather seemed to co-operate
and everyone had a great time.Grades 1-4 also had a spectaculartime at Chicopee but tubing ratherthan skiing.
This past week the Grade 1/2 class
enjoyed a fabulous day of tubing on
the slopes at Chicopee. Mother
Nature certainly co-operated and it
was probably one of the best days of
the winter to be involved in thisadventure. In the classroom, thestudents have started to focus onnon-fiction materials and understand
its special text features. By using
non-fiction materials, they will learn
how to research an animal of their
own choosing. Following their
research, they can make a report to
share interesting facts with theirclassmates. As researchers and investigators, they are interested in asking
questions and finding out facts about
the animal’s appearance, their
behaviour, their food and other
pertinent information. As they
research and develop an
understanding of these facts, theywill be able to create the best animalhabitat for their animal. Processinginformation that is presented through
a variety of media is a very
important part of literacy learning
and allows them to cover many
expectations in meaningful learning
opportunities and experiences.

this past week. Rev. Clark told the
children he didn’t think he was
doing very well with giving up
sweets for Lent. When he would go
for coffee at Tim Hortons and they
asked if he would like a donut of
course the answer was yes. This was
not helping him give up sweets for
lent.
It is hard to keep our promise. We
should pray to God and say we are
sorry and also say we are sorry to the
one we made the promise to. God
forgives us and tells us to start
again.
Lorna Fraser, Sunday School
Superintendent told the
congregation that the results of the
Food Bank Challenge, the Sunday
School has 60 items and the choir
has 61. The congregation can help
out either the choir or the Sunday
school.
The children went downstairs for
their time of fellowship. Braidon
Abell-Rinn carried the Christ Candle
down to Sunday School. The
receiving of the offering was
followed by the offering hymn and
the offertory prayer. The hymn,
“Through These Lenten Days” was
sung. The scripture was from Mark
8: 31-38.
Rev. Clark’s message to the adults
was “GPS for Everyday”. Today’s
GPS system is loved by some and
hated by others. Some of us need the
GPS to get us to our destination
where as others have a sense of
direction and don’t need the GPS.
Like GPS, in the journey of life, it
helps when we have faith in God.
God knows where He wants us to go
and if we trust in Him, He will show
us the way.
We should make sure our lives are
worthwhile. If we have a vision we
should try to fulfill that vision. We
need to take time to practise in order
to achieve our dream. It is like
learning to play the piano. Practice
makes perfect. In the scriptures,
Jesus tells His disciples what is
going to happen to Him. Peter asks
Jesus to stop whatever is going to
happen to Him.
The next hymn “He Leadeth Me”
was followed by the prayers for the
people, silent prayers and the
singing of The Lord’s Prayer. The
last hymn “Guide Me Oh Thou
Great Jehovah” was followed by the
commissioning and benediction.
