God has you in His keeping,
We have you in our hearts.

Cook, who passed away one year
ago February 18, 2011.
The family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God takes us one by one,
That chain will link again.

At the group’s second meeting
since officially being recognized as
a committee of North Huron
Council, the Blyth Business
Improvement Area (BIA) decided to
apply to become a member of the
Ontario BIA Association.
During their regular monthly
meeting on Feb. 2 secretary Tamara
Riach explained that, with the
exception of some information
related to their levy and the
assessment of local businesses, the
application was prepared.
The annual membership cost is
$141.25 based on the BIA’s size and
levy. The BIA executive and present
members unanimously approved a
plan to have the application for
membership sent in as soon as
possible.
***
The Blyth BIA officially set up its
bank account with signing power
for cheques and business being
granted to all four members of the
executive: Chair Rick Elliott, Vice-
Chair Peter Gusso, Secretary
Tamara Riach and Treasurer Sharon
Davis.
The account was prepared so that
assessment monies could be
received from North Huron
Township as soon as possible but
had $100 deposited from a sign
rental that the BIA operates.
A $51 expense was approved to
cover postage expenses for
information mailed out to the
membership.
***
The Blyth BIA approved its
policy and procedures bylaw after
making some minor clerical
corrections during the Feb. 2
meeting.
The document outlines who is
responsible for what actions within
the organization as well as how
specific situations, like finances,
will be handled.

Community Development
Coordinator Connie Goodall told
the Blyth BIA about several events
slated to visit the Blyth
Campground in the spring and
summer.
Primarily the BIA discussed
Campvention: a huge gathering of
campers and RVers that will take
place in Blyth from July 13 to July
21.
The event, which started in 1998,
hasn’t made any repeat visits at any
location according to Goodall, until
now.
“Blyth will be the first community
they’ve visited twice,” she said.
