Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Brock spent the week-end in Toronto. Letter From Greece Mrs. J. T. Hern received the fol­ lowing letter from Greece having enclosed her name in the pocket of a coat recently sent in a bale. Dear Madam; I was lucky in being able to write to you. It was through receiv­ ing an overcoat. In one of the pockets I found youi' address. You will find my address at the top of this letter, Hoping you will corres­ pond with me. I have three daugh­ ters and two sons of a family. I pray to you it is possible you will be able to send me on two parcels. My husband and family are nearly naked. I believe you who are good natured apd you feel so much to­ wards the Poor people. Just through this war which has brought it upon us. I don’t know what I am going to dq this winter with no clothes. Here in Greece .it is very difficult. Sometimes we get our bread from the lake house, I don’t know what I am going to do. I’ll close now as I’ve no more to write about. So pray to God to give you all the best of health and everything you desire. I will always be obliged to you. Weyburn School concert will be held on Monday evening, December 16th. A play will be given by the Young People, also guitar selections Ladies’ Aid and W.M.S. The Ladies’ Aid and W.M.S; of the Evangelical church held their Christmas meeting Thursday eve­ ning with Mrs R. H. Taylor’s group in charge. The meeting opened with a .prelude of music played by Mrs. 'M. Klumpp. Hymn 404 was sung} Mrs. K. McCrae read the scripture A poem “The Innkeeper makes Ex­ cuses” was read by Mrs. C. Snell. The hymn “It came upon the mid­ night Clear” was sung followed by' prayer by Mrs. R. H. Taylor. The story of the visit from St. Nick was read by Mrs. S. Wolfe. Mrs, J, M. Tieman sang a solo “In the Little Town of Bethlehem”. Mrs. M. Klumpp gave .the Study Book. Mrs/ J. M. Tieman then presided for the business. There were 42 sick visits made, 2 bouquets and 7 dainties/ sent to our sick and shut-in friends during the month. The nominating committee presented the slate of officers. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Britton- and family, of Dublin, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman .Stanlake, of Exeter, visit­ ed recently with Mrs. Hannah Work­ man. The Youngs ‘People’s Society of Carmel Presbyterian Church had as -their guest speaker, Rev. Wil­ liams, of First Presbyterian church, Seaforth, on Monday evening. A social hour followed and refresh­ ments were served. The Hensall Baseball Team and officials enjoyed a delicious ban­ quet at the New Commercial Hotel on Friday evening. Following the banquet, .Mr. E. L. iMickle, manager of the local team, spoke; also Mr. David Wilson, of Seaforth, past president of the league gave a short address. Mr. Stanley Tudor present­ ed the Huron-Perth _Cup to the Hensall Baseball team. A very enjoyable evening was Spent at S.'S. No. 10 Hay on Friday evening when a numbei’ of neigh­ bors and friends gathered in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Luker who are moving to their new home In Hensall in the near future. Prog­ ressive euchre was played, the prize winners being: Ladies, Mrs. Oliver Rowcliffe; -gent’s, Mr. Ed- -gar Munn. During the social hour which followed -Mr, and Mrs. Luker were presented with an occasional chair and coffee-table Iby Mt. Wm, ,G. Bell and Mr. Basil Edwards. Mr. Harry Hoi'ton read the address. Mt. Luker expressed their sincere thanks. The congregational supper meet­ ing of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the annual meeting of the 'Guild were held in the Sunday School room on Wednesday evening. Christmas carols were sung and Miss Lois Henderson sang a solo, “■Smilin’ Thru’,’’ accompanied ‘by Mrs. Frank Forrest. Recitations were given by Tommy Lavender ana piano solos by Miss Jean Lavender. The election of officers were as fol­ lows: president, Mrs. John Hender­ son; vice-president, -Mrs. R. H. Mid­ dleton; secretary, Mil’s. W. O. Good­ win; treasurer, Mrs. H. Lawrence. Hensall Election The election for four councillors was held in Hensall on Monday with the following results: R. H. Middleton 261, Orville Twitchell 227; William Brown 195; William Park 15 2; Edward Fink 104, -Mel­ vin Moir 103, Howard Hyde 91. The Hensall Public 'School will •hold their annual Christmas con­ cert in the town hall, Thursday evening, December ■Commencing at 7.30 sharp.
