Forest (Friday attending the funeral
of Mrs, Frayne's grandfather, Mr.
Robert G- B, McGilp.

Miss Beulah, of Fenton, Mich,, vis
ited over the week-end with Mr.
W, C, and Miss Nettie Neddy.
Mr. C. E. Zurbrigg’s Optical Of
fice has been closed this past week
on account of illness. We trust he
will be feeling better and .able to
be at the office for business next
week.

with Mrs. White's mother, Mrs.
Thos. Harvey .at the home of Mr.

Master Gerald Geromette, son of

has returned home from St. Joseph’s
Hospital where he was receiving
treatment for injuries received In
an auto accident. He is recovering
nicely.
Mr, and Mrs. 0. J. Stewart re
turned the latter part of last week
from a pleasant motor trip to Cali
fornia, They were away for nine
weeks and visited many of the im
portant places both going and on
their return trip,
Mr. Eldrid Bimmons left for Strat
ford Sunday to resume an appren
ticeship that had been severed in
the undertaking business, when
the war called him into the R.C.A.F.
Since his return from overseas, ihe
has been associated: with his father
and brother in an implement shop
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Taylor, Mrs.
Chas. Box and Mi'. Thos. Harrison
attended the funeral of the
Marshall Box, of Parkhill
Thurday of last , week. rMr.
Mrs. Norman Ford, of Detroit,
Mr. and Mrs. f^eon Dearing,
Sarnia, were als< .present at
funeral.
Mr, and Mrs. Amos Warwick
two sons, Gary and Terry Lee, of
Port Huron, spent several days
with Mrs. Warwick’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Clark Fisher. Mr. and
Mrs. Fisher and the Warwicks spent
Thursday of last week visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Davis at Kin
cardine.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Campbell,
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stone and Mr.
Wm. Taylor attended the wedding
of Miss Helen Craft and Mr.
Gerald Campbell in Empress Ave.
United Church on Saturday. After
the ceremony a wedding dinner
and reception was held for. about
thirty guests at Summit Ave.
When smoke filled the home of
Mr. A. J. Payne, John street, Fri
day evening last and it was found
difficult to locate . just where the
smoke was coming from a fire
alarm was turned in and the fire
men made a quick run to .the
house. Fortunately there was no
cause for alarm and no damage
was done.
Mrs. Geo. Hunter, of town, and
Mr. John Simpson and daughter,
Pauline, of Usborne, were at Sea
forth Saturday attending the wed
ding of Miss Mildred Donelda
Hawkins, youngest daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Wilson Hawkins, to Mr.
Kenneth James Barry, third son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. g. Barry, of Sea
forth.
The Young Men’s Bible Class of
James Street Church enjoyed a
banquet and social evening Friday
last following an attendance con
test. C, V. Pickard, the .teacher of
the class, provided the main course,
a chicken dinner, while the losing
side provided the desert. The win
ners .had the pleasure of washing
the dishes. Games and amusements
were enjoyed.
A general meeting of the mem
bers of the newly-formed Chamber
of Commerce will be held in the
Town Hall Monday evening, Dec.
16th. The guest speaker for the
evening will be Mr. Ron Menzies,
president of the Goderich Board
of Trade.
