ONTARIO, THURSDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 5th, 1946 Robert MeGilp Passes Mr. and Mrs-* Cliff white ware in Forest several days last week ow ing to the death of Mrs, White's father, Mr. Roht. G. B. McGilp. Mr. McGilp, aged 85, was Forest’s old est businessman and ’died at Jiis home Nov. 26th, following a week’s illness. He was born i» Scotland. He went to Forest where he estab lished a jewelery business in 1888, He operated the business continu-' ously since that time. He was a prominent member of the Sons of Scotland. His wife, the former Ethel May Newton, predeceased him in 1942, He is survived by one son, Archie McGilp, of Forest, and three daughters, M’rs. J. Stonehouse, of Forest; Mrs, C. White, of Exeter, and Mrs, J, Sullivan, of Toronto. The funeral was from McFarlane’s funeral chapel to Beechwood ceme tery on Friday afternoon last. The service in the chapel was conducted by Rev, W. McCadrum. It was moved and seconded by Councillors Cald well and Hern that the Public Utilities' Commission be asked to place strings of colored lights on Main Street. KIRKTON Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Watson have returned home after spending the -past two months in the West ern Provinces where they visited Mrs, Watson’s father, Mr. Thomas Coward, of Richdale, Alberta., also her brother at Calgary, Mr. Wat son’s brother- at Sasktoon and friends at Winnipeg and Swanson. The Watsons say that the first month was lovely weather but November was decidedly cold, es pecially in Winnipeg. In all they had a very lovely holiday.
