Executive of Presbyterian W.M.S. Meet in Clinton The executive -of Huron Presby terial W.M.S. of the Presbyterian Church in Canada met in the Pres byterian church, Clinton, on. Mon day, October 2 Sth, with members present from Blyth, Clinton, Exeter, Goderich, Hensall and Seaforth, The meeting opened with a de votional period conducted by the president, Mrs. W, J. Thompson, of Seaforth, Mrs. W. A. Wright of Sea forth, and Mrs. K. MacLean, of Exeter. Several matters of -business were discussed and it was decided that th© annual business meeting should be held in Clinton on Tues day, January 14 th., The president gave a fine sum mary of the October meeting of the Ontario Provincial Society which wa sheld recently in Toronto, and1 told of the important changes that are to be made. Instead of one large Provincial Society, the membership will be divided into foul’ Synods, each group to have its own presi dent and officers, It was felt that this would create a deeper interest in the work, as more women would ibe able to attend when the various annual meetings, would, be closer to the presbyterials, Huron Presbyterial will be one of the nine in the .Synod of Hamilton and London, and there Was a sug gestion that the first meeting might be held in 'Stratford. A meeting of the key women will be held in Lon don on December 7th to prepare a slate of officers, and to make all the necessary arrangements for the first meeting. Each Presbyterial was asked to send four nominations, and Mrs. K, MacLean will represent Huron at this' meeting. It was announced that the plan to raise $30,000 for the W.M.'S. peace thanksgiving fund had been a grand success, and $3 6,651 had been contributed for this purpose. It was also announced that owing to increased expenses the subscrip tion rat© to “Glad Tidings” had been increased to 50c per year. The report of the literature secre tary, Mrs. G, Bissett, of Goderich, showed that ten cartons of good books and magazines for men had been sent to Frontier College, and members are asked to save child ren’s books in good condition for shipment later on. Mrs. Thompson stated that there was note of sadness at the closing meeting of the Board, with the thought that this was the last time they, would all meet together, but there was also a feeling of hope that the new plan would create greater enthusiasm, and bring more women into the work of the W.M.S. Mrs. Thompson expressed her ap preciation of the support given to her during her term of office and stated that she wished to resign at the end of the year; members were asked to keep this in mind, and assist the nominating committee in this matter, and the meeting closed with prayer by the president.
