Miss Hettie Sweet, of London, visited with Miss Annie Handford and with her brother and sister-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Sweet over the holiday, Mr. and Mrs, Jack Routledge, who have been the guests of Mr. Harper Rivers, have returned to Toronto. .They were accompanied by Mr. Rivers and Anne. Mrs. G. Hockey, who is ill in Victoria Hospital, following an op­ eration on one eye, is recuperating nicely and is expected home latter part of the week. They attended the Golden Jubilee ser­ vices at the Evangelical Church at Crediton. Dr. Hewitt Passes Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Dow and Gil­ bert and Mrs. Rod Ellis were at Aurora Wednesday attending the funeral of their brother-in-law, Dr. S. R. D. Hewitt, who died suddenly at his home in Aurora on Thanks­ giving Day. Pybus and other friends in and around Exeter over the week­ end.- Mr. Rowe Dinney, who has been in the staff department in the Head Office of the Royal Bank of Canada at Montreal, has been promoted to Staff Officer and transferred to Vancouver, B.C. Mr. H. Bierling, who recently purchased the Christie property on Main street from Miss Margaret Rogers is having it repainted. Mr. Bierling purchased the property at auction for. $5,0150. Miss Helen Penhale, of Halt Toronto, spent tbye with her parents, Mt. and J. Penhale. On Sunday she sang a very pleasing Janies Street United Church. The Exeter Branch of Canadian Canners was closed down Wednes­ day to allow their employees to take in the International Plowing Match at Port Albert.
