The Municipal Council of the Township of McGillivray cordially invites the general public, friends, and relatives of the undernamed men who gave their lives in the late war, to attend a Memorial and Unveiling service at the Soldier’s Monument, West McGillivray, on Sunday, July 7th, 1048, at the hour of 2.30 p,m„ (D.S.T.), The special speaker for the day will be the H/Major, the Rev. Morley Colling, RJTh., of Chatham, a returned chaplain who sqw service overseas during five and a half years, He was also made Senior Chaplain jn Italy, and was mentioned in despatches for his services. McTavish, who past nine years has been of Calvary United church don, preached his .farewell sermon dr ’Sunday prior to going to St. Paul's United church, St. Cathar­ ines. At the conclusion, of the eve­ ning service Mr. McTavish was sur­ prised by his congregation and pre­ sented with a cheque for $'435.00. The cheque represented the cost of a trip for -Mr. and Mrs. McTavish to British Columbia where they will visit with their son John before resuming their new position. ■ Zion S. S. The local hardballers evened their score with Zurich by winning the game at the Community Park Monday night 10-6 before a large crowd of spectators, The win put the locals in third place. Exeter teed off Heideman in first inning to score foui' runs, the third Zurich took advantage five singles and errors to score six of their runs and ’put them the lead, Exeter scored one run the fourth when Hayter doubled and scored on a wild pitch. Smith and Holtzman both scored in the fifth to put Exeter in the lead and increased it in the seventh when Creech and Smith clouted doubles and Fahrner smashed a, triple. All three scored. Smith continued his hot hitting pace with a triple, double and a single.
