schedule strong with a win at home
and a tie and a win on the road.

board quickly when Avery McArter
went in alone and scored for the
early lead. The visitors would
answer back two minutes later to tie
the score. Both teams would spend
most of the game killing penalties,
but it would be Carson Richmond
scoring in the third on a power play

back in the remaining minutes of the

AA Lightning win games over the border
The Saugeen Maitland Bantam
AA Lightning started the new year
in the win column, defeating the
Cambridge Roadrunners in league
play and downing three Detroit
teams in a cross-border exhibition
series.
After a well-deserved break from
the ice over Christmas, the Bolts
were a little rusty during a rare
Thursday night game against the
Roadrunners in Teeswater. Call-up
Mel Nolan got things started with a
first-period goal with assists going to
Lexi Smith and Miranda Lantz.
Smith then potted one of her own
with helpers from Nolan and Lantz.
Tori Terpstra finished off the scoring
with a shot to the top shelf; Neve
VanPelt and Maddie Duncan earned
assists. Morgan Baker turned aside
all shots to earn the shutout in the 3-
0 win.
The Bantam AA Lightning were
disappointed to have been excluded
from the weekend Guelph
tournament. However Coach Lark,
wanting to get the team ready for the
second half of the season, arranged
an exhibition series against the best
three Bantam age girls teams in
Detroit. In a period of less than 24
hours the shorthanded Bolts gutted
out wins against Detroit Honey-
Baked (4-2), Detroit Little Caesars
(3-0) and Detroit Compuware (6-1).

(four), Avery Reeves (two), Jessica
Dales, Nikki Zabel and Duncan.

The Blyth Brussels PeeWee Local

brief lead before Collingwood tied it
up again.

minute sudden-death overtime
which resulted in no score from
either team.

go into overtime where they would
triumph this time.

awesome slapshots from the blue

from either team but awesome
defense from Dylan, Jeff, Hudson

Derrick standing on his head making
great saves.

third period to tie it up.
Overtime would prove useless
again as neither team scored, leading
to another shootout.
Blyth Brussels triumphed in the
shutout to enter the “C” final.
Between Blyth Brussels and the
trophy was Durham.
Durham scored two goals early in
the first period, but only briefly held
the two-point lead as Joseph put one
in the net with a pass from Brock
and Dean.
Durham widened the gap during
the second, scoring another marker
to put the score at 3-1.
The third period belonged to Blyth
Brussels however as the squad came
out swinging.
Cody scored off of a pass from
Mason.
Damon scored with a pass from
Wyatt to tie the game leading to
another overtime.
The boys didn’t waste time
however as, with goaltender Derrick
